Very few timber hunters would welcome you with a 10 ga. It's often viewed as an attempted extension of one's manhood. We shoot 20's and even smaller gauges in the timber we hunt. A lot of public places have this problem with hunters tree-topping ducks which is why it's so hard to work them in some of those areas.
I suggest if you want to hunt these areas is get a topo map and learn them. Many locals have holes they have hunted for years and claim them as theirs so often less than friendly "suggestions" are exchanged in the dark. It's tough getting established in any area and private ground is pretty pricey and well tended. We have guys at times get caught on our leases as they couldn't resist or didn't think it was a big deal to try and shoot a few. Believe me, Arkansas trespass laws can be tough and getting on someone's lease w/o permission isn't something you want to do.
