HOLOGRAPH Shotgun sights

Postby Denlan4 » Sat Aug 01, 2009 3:12 pm

I am not a rookie shooter...I have shot shotgun sports in hunting and competition for years. But, I have never used a holograph sight for shotgun shooting and was interested in setting up my Beretta Urika 391 or Rmington 1100 with such a sight. Has anyone got experience in setting up their shotgun with such a sight? Is it practical for hunting? Or does it just get in the way? Is it a good aid for those who are just starting to shoot shotguns, giving them a "measureable" reference point?

I would like your guys' input.

Thanks

I've thought about it.

This is the ony one I'd try.

It has some pretty good reviews. The problem is that as you know shotgunning is a reflex based on instict and keeping both eyes open. Sights are counter intuitive. I'll let someone else on here test the waters. 8)

I would never try one for the simple fact that the dud on the flyway highway shoots one! Haha  And if ducks are backpedaling at 15 yards over the dekes, who needs one

I file that in the unneeded gadget file. I am cross dominant and while that thing may help, I cant justify the cost. A piece of scotch tape over the glasses works and is cheap. A hi vis "bead" works as a reference point and is alot cheaper.Gotta save money till my stimulus check comes in.

I tried it a couple of years ago and it messed me up greatly. As has been mentioned, it's a reflex reaction and more art than science.
