Minor League Baseball ???
Planning to carry a group of youth baseball players to a minor league game in the coming weeks. About halfway between Jackson and Memphis so either is an option. Which of the two are the better bargain? Any local players playing on the Braves or Redbirds right now? Either park more "kid friendly" than the other? Thanks!

Both are really nice places. Memphis has has the bluff where you can sit on the grass in the outfield and watch games for like $5 -- at least they used to.

Autozone Park in Memphis is one of the finest minor league stadiums in America. It's beautiful, cheap, and not a bad seat in the house. Plus it's Triple A, one step from the Bigs, so there's bound to be some big leagers there. I go there when the Iowa Cubs are in town (if I happen to be in town). I highly recommend it.

One local guy on the Redbirds roster right now. Jarrett Hoffpauir from Natchez, played at Southern Miss.

oh yeah, matt tolbert from down here is in the show with the twins but if he gets back down to AAA you might could pick a game they may match up.

i went to my first braves game of the year last night.. i don't know of any local players on the braves roster this year,, trustmark park is nice.. its not as nice as autozone.. one other thing to consider.. if you were coming down for a game is bass pro is right there across the rd.. if you group consits of kids that like to hunt and fish they might enjoy going by there as well..

Big makes a good point.
Both stadiums are nice. Memphis' stadium is a bit larger and has a AAA team, but you have to deal with going downtown Memphis with a large group of kids as well as the traffic.
Pearl's stadium is smaller, but as stated about Memphis' stadium, there really isn't a bad seat in the stadium. I do know that if you are bringing a group of ball players they will cut you a discounted price and normally will announce your team, etc. I am sure the Redbirds would do the same. A plus that Big brought up is the Bass Pro is right across the street. Park there and let the kids go there for about an hour, then take them across the street, you just walk there, and watch your game. Pretty easy to get in and out of the Pearl stadium with not much headache.

At the Braves stadium, there is kids activities out beyound left field. Slides, pitching deal (radar gun to show how fast), can't recall what else. I guess it really depends on the age of the kids.

Been to a butt load of games at both places...............Autozone Park is one of the nices parks in the country and i have been to a lot of stadiums. Trustmark park is cheaper and so are concessions. The overall experience at Autozon and the quality of Baseball will be 10 times better. Lot more to do in Downtown Memphis too. Be up there late June. Memphis **** vs Pearl *. Just my opinion.

I wasnt quite emphatic enough looking back at that last post. Pearl sucks compared to memphis. Memphis beats pearl in every category except ease of getting in and out/parking. Go to Memphis!

Re: Minor League Baseball ???
Thanks for the replyies, these boys are all around 12 yr old, most if not all of them hunt & fish as well. Figured the Redbirds were far better too watch, but the cheaper concessions and Bass Pro are positives for the trip. Probably will throw it to the boys to decide with all of the factors provided by yall thrown in there. Thanks a bunch!
