Can't find that army style camo netting

Postby Wingman » Sat Nov 03, 2001 7:57 pm

You know, the type that looks like seine net with the plastic squiggly stuff sewn onto it. To me it looks like something that would've covered up tanks and stuff in WW2. I got some years ago, but can't find it anywhere and I need some more. Anybody know where this stuff is born?

Thanks

Sounds like you're referring to the radar reflective stuff (as opposed to the product Herter's, etc. sells) which used to be available everywhere up until a few years ago..had heard Uncle Sam decided civilians shouldn't have this type of camo..haven't seen it around here in 4-5 years..good luck.

Thanks, JP, I will look around and see what I can find. Sportsman's Guide used to sell it. Looks like I got a little carried away with the word "stuff" in that first post

Wingman, check out Northern (they did carry it). I don't know about now. Hope that you have a good year. It opens down here next Saturday. Jack

You can find that type of camo in a lot of army surplus stores cheap. Also if you will go to a nearby National Guard Armory you can probably ask the supply SGT and he can hook you up with scrap. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I looked up army surplus on search and found several places that carry it. It's a little too expensive...25 sq.ft piece is 150 bucks. I think I'll use some old catfish seine and dress it up with "free" Spanish moss!

They have german military camo in the cabelas waterfowl catalog. It is like catfish seine with rubberized "leaves" sewn all over it. I use it on my boat and it works great. I think its 25 feet for thirty bucks.

It will be a no-go on getting camo netting from a supply SGT. They have to turn in all old netting in order to receive new camo. I found it easier to have the suppy SGT to get net repair kits to use for my hunting camo needs. They are SMALLER, but can be stitched together using supplied zipties.

You may want to try Cheaper Than Dirt

Cabelas sells the camo netting you are looking for. It is the same netting used by the military. Brown on one side and green on the other. 57"x168" is $24.95.

Picked up some at Frank's Pawn shop in Winona
last year to replace the rotted burlap on my
boat blind. Don't know if they still have it
in stock, but maybe they still know where to
get it. Price wasn't too bad either.
Good Luck!

Hmm... Look closer at what Cabelas is selling. There is no net, atleast not in the picture. It "appears" to be only the vinyl stuff from the picture. You would need the netting to attach it to. The vinyl tears fairly easy when snagged on something.

The price has increased to $34.99.
