Question on the fit of a dog vest

Postby Drake » Sat Nov 03, 2001 2:15 pm

Guys,
I'm getting a neoprene vest for my dog and I was wondering how tight it should fit? Should I have to stretch it to get it on him? By the way, Mossy Oak has an awesome closeout sale on crate covers, ATV covers, dog vests, guide bags, decoys, etc. If anyone has a chance, they need to check it out today!

It obviously should not be uncomfortablefor your dog, but should be snug. I made the mistake of buyig one a bit to big, and it was cumbersome and the dog did not care for it as much as the tighter one...not to mention the looser fitting one getting snaggers on sticks, fences, etc easier.

Question on the fit of a dog vest

According to my dog the most important part of the fit is to make sure it is "anatomicly correct". He complained after the first time he hiked his leg on a tree wearing a new vest. He was most upset to discover that he was peeing from around his neck instead of on the tree! (Laughed my butt off). But a few snips with the scissors (on the vest of course) and he was peeing like a boy dog 'spose to again.

I appreciate the advice. I think I have the right fit although I hope he doesn't outgrow it before season is over. I'll keep his anatomy in mind too. He just learned to "hike." I am really excited about his first hunting season. He is my first retriever(8 months old and already 80 pounds). I can barely wait. I just hope he gets his fill of retrieves this year. Question on the fit of a dog vest

Yea I had almost the same experience with my dog H2O. He lifted his leg and pee was running down his chin. I will never forget the look of confussion on his face as he looked at at me. I was rolling on the ground laughing my butt off and so were my buddies. That morning my dog was the talk of the blind!
