Bermuda Seeding?
Bermuda Seeding?
I just killed all the weeds in my side yard with roundup and was planning on reseeding bermuda. There are some patches of bermuda that have come back up. My question is should I till the ground or just spread the seed and throw some sand and straw on top of it? Any other tips or would be appreciated.

I planted an airstrip once. Worked it up real good and had a loose layer of soil to work with. Spread the seed and drug a piece of chain link fence across it all. It rained and stayed wet for about a week. Came up great and was pretty solid by the 2nd year.

It will come up great if you till or disc first. I will come up good if you aerate. It will come up if you just let it sit on top of the ground. Either way allow a couple of weeks before you expect to see much. Once you've seeded don't treat for weeds, period, for at least a year.

about to do the same in a spot in my back yard. They told me lightly use the box tiller and then seed. Would it do any good to spread the clippings from the rest of my yard out over it?

Anytime you can do something to get the seed down in the profile it has a better chance of germination. I use the word profile loosely. If you have access to a verticutter I would do that as it works well and is what almost everyone does prior to overseeding. Airyfing will work also(puch holes w/ solid tines if you dont want the mess of plugs from hollow tines)

Syill little early wait till bout the first week of june ....you need 65 degree temp round the clock for 3 days for full germination and not waste or lose any seed....once germinated just keep it watered till good stand

warm season shoot growth is min 50-60 max is 105 and opt for root growth is 75-90 so you should be good to go. Just water it at night or early morning when the ET is low.
