Were on a duck hunting sight. What else are we going to discuss. Oh, I know. Ahhhh, I went huntin, I saw some duuucks. I shot 9 and Bubba got lucky and shot 16 of them critters. I dont know wher I was, I think it was in some water, we were close to that big river they call the ditch. There were some trees there. I dont know what kind of ducks they was but they had funny green heads, I think they were pigstales cause the feathers on there butts was curly like pigs tales. The punt gun jammed after Bubbas turn so we broke out the four gauge but the evinrude broke so we drifted down to maws shack and hitced a ride back to the ramp at Tunica.

Geez B geez Bates take a breath....read the majority of the posts on the board there are quite a few different topics besides "the hunt"...if your looking for a cheap ramp to put into use the first camp....no one ever collects the money there.
Now I've hunted on the cutoff for over 30 years it used to be (up until 3 -4 years ago) people would give each other room, honor someones work you know cutting trees out to make a hole spending a few hundred bucks to build a nice blind stuff like that...NOW..there are some that will launch at 4:30 and go to someones blind....and decide to hunt there...then the person who spent the time and Money to build a blind shows up 30 minutes before shooting time and the fight is on... I've stopped blind hunting this year and have gone to other places to hunt on the cutoff...
I stopped because I've quit fighting 10 year old grown Men along time ago..I've asked untold numbers of hunters to join Me and most I've enjoyed. Those other few are a blight on the sport...ruin it for all. I just hope that one day people will stop being all about themselves and start thinking about the other fella....well I can dream
If your on My ramp tomorrow come see ME you can't miss the brown boat with Charlies Camp stickers on each side....maybe I can give you a tip or two.

gadwall2 wrote:Bates, for somebody that wants to find the ducks on his own, you sure have been asking a lot of questions around here. You wont use a guide, but you will ask the world about their public hunting areas. How about not asking anymore questions and finding out for yourself since you don't like guides.

I began my duck hunting "career" at Tunica. There are a few things I can tell you about the lake. The locals are ALWAYS right. If you are not a LOCAL The "local" game warden, Gayle Mangrum will give you $hitfits before you leave the dock and come harass you once you are set up. If you don't believe me, just sit at Charlie's camp for 2 days in a row and see it in action. That lil' short "@#$%#" will sit there and let the local's launch without functioning running lights, and not making them show him life jackets, nothing...just watch them launch and run across the lake with not much more than a maglight flashlight for guidance. Then here comes a group of fellas he doesn't recognize...he'll jump out of his truck, stroll across the parking lot and inform them that they can't launch until he has seen their running light actually work, and checked all their licenses, life jackets, steel shot, plugs, etc. A 5 minute boat launch has now turned into a 15 minute ordeal. Now you have finally gotten launched, found a "hole" gotten set up and just maybe there might be some birds working you about 8:30 or so lets say. Here comes that lil chit again barging all up through your decoys in a great big monstrosity of a boat with a big ol white Johnson 90 hp motor. Now once again he wants to see licenses, check guns, check limits, life jackets, steel shot. WHAMMO you just lost 30 minutes of good hunting time to re-check what was checked at the boat ramp before you were even allowed to leave.....his excuse...he doesn't remember faces or boats, he's just doing his job? Well, he certainly remembered the locals boats and faces at the boat ramp. You would be better served to hunt another place other than tunica cutoff. Malmaison, O'keefe, Askew, etc. If you do decide to go ahead and hunt tunica cutoff I would have to tell you to launch at Kingston's boat launch it's 1/4 mile from Charlie's camp and you won't be supporting some of the locals that are undoubtedly in co-hoots with each other. Another thing he'll try to do is come onto the arkansas side during the arkansas season and write you a ticket for hunting during a closed season in Mississippi. The arkansas side is clearly marked with the telltale purple tree paint which any of you who hunt in arkansas know serves as posted signs...once again he failed to see the clearly visible purple paint and crossed the border to try to write a ticket....yet if he was going to try to write someone a ticket for tresspassing in the state of mississippi he'd of said "you didn't see those posted signs?" I personally haven't gotten a ticket from him for anything, because I am always legal, I have been checked 3 times in the same day by him, which I felt was just a little too much. once before I left, once on the water and once when I was leaving.
bates ,if i were you i would not come to tunica this is a fine area

Dutch, sorry you had a bad one with gayle. Your right if your not a local dont get on the cutoff cause we are always right and the law backs us.
Actually the Federals on the cutoff are alot more strict that gayle ever thought about being Trust Me, also the Fed's are there if the birds are their I know they call Me and ask. I was kidding about the first part we are only right most of the time and all the time when it comes to who killed that reward band.
Again sorry you had a bad experience

It's just frustrating
. I feel like showing him what he wants and then telling him to get the F... out of here after he has seen it. He's getting on up in years, heck he was an old fart when I started hunting down there about 12 years ago so he's an old fart plus 12 years now...he'll be gone soon enough.
