bread pudding recipe?
Bread pudding is by far my favorite desert but I have never made it. I am looking for a good recipe. Who has one?
Re: bread pudding recipe?
I have never been able to talk her out of the recipe, but if you are ever in Canton, there's a place called Cristine's Back Porch that has THE BEST bread pudding around - hands down!
She will sell a large pan of it for around $25

Add lots of egg yolk and eggs.
I used to make it in a resturant, but for the life of me can not think of a recipe for it. Great stuff.
If it doesn't work out there will never be any doubt that the pleasure was worth all the pain.

Bread Pudding is an art in my mind. Sure you can get a receipe all day everyday from the internet or people, but to cook it and it come out amazing, that's the art part. I will say this, if you EVER don't want me to eat bread pudding, put rasins in it. Kills the bread pudding mood instantly.
I just finished eating some myself from the casino.

Yep, it's pretty good, too, but still a little behind Mary's Rum.

IV's restaurant in Tupelo is owned by Al Wallace. He has a different flavor everyday for dessert. He was a chef at one of the casinos before opening up his own. Look up the number and call him. Good guy. Bet he will give you a receipe.
Re: bread pudding recipe?
The Crystal Grill in Greenwood has pretty famous bread pudding here in the Delta. I think that Friday is the day that they have it as dessert with the lunch menu. Their version is called Carroll County bread pudding; it has a creamy sauce not a rum sauce.

My cousin uses this recipe; she swears by it.
6-8 slices bread w/crusts left on (l like to leave my bread out at room temperature for a day or more....put it in a pan or bowl and cover with paper towel until you are ready to use it....I use French bread sliced kind of thick)
3 – eggs – beaten
2 – cups milk
1 – tsp. – good quality vanilla extract
Raisins are optional
½ cup Sugar
¼ tsp. salt
1 cup nuts for filling – either pecans or walnuts
Sauce topping – make separate (see below)
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Butter the bread and toast it in the oven. Break the bread into the bottom of a 9 x12 x 2 baking dish. Mix eggs, salt, sugar, milk and vanilla. Put nuts in the dish with the broken bread; then pour liquid mixture over toast and nuts. Bake for 30 minutes @350 degrees.
Sauce – 1 cup sugar, 4 Tbsp butter, 2 Tbsp cornstarch, 2 Tbsp vanilla
Mix sugar and cornstarch together in a small saucepan, microwave 2 cups of water to a boil…add gradually to sugar and cornstarch mixture…stirring constantly…..boil for 5 minutes….remove from heat…..add butter and vanilla…stir……pour over the cooked bread pudding. Serve while hot. Will serve 6-8 people.
