Bait casters??????????

The main problem with the ABU's is the Worm Gear grinding after about 11 Months. I like the pinnacle's but Mostly I fish with The new Fluger President model. I love them. They throw light bait really well. I've had 5 of them for 4 years now. No Problems with them yet.

I here you wabit. My worm gear started sticking to one side on mine after 10 years. You can take the screw out of the bottom and put a brass chip in it, it just allows more pressure to be placed on the gear after you put your screw back in. It worked for me for an additional year or so then it just broke all together.

Ya'll ever fished with a citica (shimano) they are pretty smooth also!!!!!

I like shimano but my other go to is the Browning Midas, those things throw as good or better than my curado.

I use the ole idiot button kind. Just push the button, swing it over your head like a chopper blade and let go when your ready. No backlash. I can throw skip cast and if your bait is going to far, just hit the button and it stops. He11 you can't beat that. Slap on some 14lb test and a buzz bait and slammin whammy you got yourself a rod-n-reel.
She hasn't let me down yet. Total cost of rod-n-reel, 16 bucks. Use the money saved for drinks and more buzz baits and worms. Come on down. I got the boat.

I fished under contract for both Shimino and Abu Garcia. I left shimano for Abu Garcia. I had any product they made available to me at abosultely no cost. The shimano's are good reels and have some advantages, but when it comes down to blood and guts it's still hard to beat Abu Garcia. You go look what sitting on some pro's decks to see the latest and greatest stuff. Then look in his rod box to see what he's really using! Abu Garcia has been around a mighty long time! But with that said your style ad type of fishing should dictate the style and model reel you use. I have a dozen 4500C4's all on GLX G-Loomis rods never had a moments trouble out of any of em. I realize everyone can't afford to go out and spend 450 to 500 bucks a combo but, you get what you pay for! I fished for a living for 25 years. You had to have the best available most dependable gear out there. Your livelyhood depended on it! You talk about the shimano Calcutta? It's as close a copy to the Abu Garcia as they could get without infringing on their patents. I was still under contract with them at the time and that's exactly what they tried to do, copy the 4500!

I have a bunch of Curado's and Calcuttas but I purchased an ambasador Revo STX a couple of years ago and have started using them as my primary baitcaster now. Dont get me wrong I love my curados and calcuttas, but the revo is just as good as the curado to me. I have fished them in salt water and fresh and put them to the test. I landed a 25lb amberjack on a revo w 12lb test last year and it handled it great. Super smooth drag system and it casts like a dream. Ill probably continue to replace my curados with revos over the next few years. I still love shimano for my spinning reals. I have 6 stradics if Im not mistaken and use them over any other spinning reel.

I have Shimano rods and reels that were sold over 20 years ago called "fightin' rods and reels". They were top of the line back then and I've taken very good care of them. I wish they still made them.

My newer rods and reels are Abu Garcia.

My two best rods and reels are my pink Zebcos. My two middle daughters can tear 'em up with those, a cork, and crickets.

I like the revo, I like my quantums for the money the energy is nice. It has held up well. Got to give a shout out to the 33's they have put a many a fish in the cooler

You just can't go wrong with a Shimano. I've had my Curado for around 5 years or so and it hasn't missed a lick. I wouldn't have anything else.
