Swarm of Bees
Swarm of Bees
Was walking through the Wal-Mart parking lot today in Pearl/Brandon when I notice a few bees in front of me. I move out of their way and as I do I look up to my disbelief to see a couple thousand passing over my head by about 6 feet. They just kept on going south across hwy 80. I am glad they were nice friendly bees. Anyone seen this before?
Re: Swarm of Bees
Yeah. Either a new queen matured and a hive split, or an existing hive decided to hunt a new home.

I know Bees serve a great purpose for pollen and such but it is a wierd feeling when you see that many. I guess it's the thought that they could eat you alive if they wanted to

We got a cabin and one of the soffit vents is torn out and there are thousands of Bees coming in and out of the soffit, Whats the best way to get rid of them. Last time we were at the cabin there was a hive about the size of a basket ball hanging under the soffit but it didnt have any bees in it. i took some wax home to wax my bow string.

We have a hive in a hollow on the cedar tree in the front yard of my old deer club. It has been there since i've been a member (5) years and when i tell you there are thousands of bees in this thing. You can't put your arms around the tree so i assume the hive is fairly big. We just leave them alone and they do their due diligence for the environment.

Get in touch with a bee keeper. They'll get rid of the bees and you'll have a nice batch of honey to boot.
Nobody owes you anything.
Re: Swarm of Bees
When I was a kid we were working in the garden when a swarm passed over like that. We threw loose dirt up into the swarm and they settled in a nearby tree. Called the bee guy out and he came out and put them in a hive for us. We had honey from then on!

Re: Swarm of Bees
I know I posted a while back about finding some bees and about 3 weeks ago I came across a swarm that was in a small sapling in the field behind my house. Went to my dads and got the beehive and now I got me a hive. I put the bee suit on and put them in the box and let them settle for a about a week or so and just recently move them close to my garden. My dad raised bees while I was growing up and just wanted to get into it and since now I've got the property to have them I decided to give a shot. So any of you guys that see a swarm on a tree here in the local area and want to get rid of them let me know I will come get them and take them off your hands for ya. Now if they are in a building you might want to call a pest guy cause it's hard getting them out of something like that or a hollow tree...

Well bigwater, bees are good to eat and they're easy to clean. However, it takes a whole mess of them to make a meal 'cause they fry down to about nothing. Besides, the season ended yesterday.

Nobody owes you anything.
