They can really be a handful. My pup gotta hold of a cd the other day on my back patio and crunched it.
Scared the cr*p outta me cause of the shards....I had ducked in for a cup of coffee, maybe 15 seconds tops, and caught him right as he did it. Wuz on him in an instant and put it back together like a puzzle to make sure nothing had gone down the hatch :?

You try an puppy-proof everything and they still find ways to get to stuff

Take that romax and hook it to a 110v male plug and plug it in the GFI receiptical on the back porch. One bite will lite him up and then trip the breaker. I would hate it if he decided to piss on it first though...

I dont think id be letting dog chew on 2x4's... wood splintering in a digestive track could be a big problem. travis

Yep, no biggie. That thing only cost $90, oh well. Got home this afternoon & took the young male pup out fer some marks & blind work to spiff up for the Central AL test. Got back to the house to find that my female got pissed due to this & ate the shade top off her kennel  . I give up!

Man a vet recomended that trick to me about 10 yrs ago and I had never thought to much about the splinters, until Travis mentioned it. It actually seemed to work real well with my knuckle head dogs. Always figured, they chew on the sticks in my yard like crazy, what could a wood block hurt.
Just glad I don't have a puppy tearing up my place right now. Or WOODCHUCK :D :D

get nylabones, safe and clean the teeth. In my experience with labs, rawhide is not easy to digest and they end up throwing up. I have also put hot sauce on a rubber hose that they loved to chew on and it worked! (tobasco)

Mud,

With all due respect...your link is to a HSUS article.
This is one of the most fervent animal rights organizations out there.

Simply did a google search, read the article, posted for our friend here in an effort to help him stop the chewing problem of his dog.

I realize that the HSUS supports some controversial efforts with regards to hunting, refuges, etc...On the same note, they support some good efforts in mistreatment of pets, sheltering, adoption etc.

I was in no way supporting or expressing my views of this organization.

Good luck with the chewing problem.

(You can "Copy" and "Paste" the article words into a word program if the organization offends you)

No, no....it's good.
I'm not offended by much

Just makin an observation of an organization that generally misleads the public.

Damn_It_Boy wrote:Second work.......KENNEL.......with a concrete slab. Now how could the dog get in trouble if he was crated or kenneled?

+1
Also, give him something to play with. If you don't, then he will find something to play with on his own. Also, here's another trick (learned this from the people I bought my house from), get a spool of barbed wire, and wrap things that you don't want the pup to chew - garden hoses, electrical cables, etc. Only once did Jack grab the garden hose as a pup. When the wire grabbed him, he let me know that he'd never do that again.
Nobody owes you anything.
