Terrible gift

Postby BBR12 » Wed Dec 24, 2003 8:35 pm

My wife let our two labs out to use the potty this morning about eight and they ran off. I went to town about 10 a.m. they still weren't home. I got back about noon and Daisy came from behind the house I came in and got on the forum.
My wife started petting her and got some blood on her finger. I looked at it, it just looked like a scratch. Well she keeps rubbing her and gets more blood on her hand so this time I get up and check her good. She had been shot with birdshot, Had about 10 pellets in her. Took her on to the vet and had her checked out she's going to be alright, but Cody still isn't home. I have covered about 300 acres this evening and haven't found anything. I don't figure I'll ever find him but going to skip christmas with the inlaws to look in the morning. I'm still holding out a little hope but I'm not expecting to find him alive. I think I know who did it and God help me if I find out for sure especially if Cody is dead. Anyhow what a great gift some JA shoots your dogs on Christmas eve.
Guy's make sure you keep your dogs put up just leaving them alone for a few minutes can turn in to this. My vet is missing a dog he let out in the yard because she hadn't been out since the first of deer season. This was the seventh dog they've seen with gunshot wounds and they had two that had been shot with a bow. It's hard to comprehend how some %#$head can shoot your dog instead of asking you to keep them put up. I could understand a little better if he had asked me 10 times to keep them off his land but if it's who I think it is he's a big rabbit hunter(has about 25 dogs) and he was dumping off a deer carcass on some of his family's land that he never goes on.
Anyhow just watchout guys it only takes a min. and they are gone.

I hate to hear that. Anybody that'd do that needs to be whupped good.

You may want to go ahead and call the law. You have a dog that has been shot and that needs to be reported. You can also tell them your suspicions then and let them look into it. Just keep a cool head and let them run with it.

Man I hate to hear that. I can't imagine what kind of person would do something like that. I have a bird dog that used to run off every chance he got. One time an old couple found him trotting down the road looking lost, picked him up and gave me a call. In those few hours it seemed like a week passed. when I picked him up he was in their living room and had been eating table scraps. I was so happy that these people picked him up and not one of the others. Any way, I hope some good people picked him up and return him to you. Bryan

We have a large tract of land in central MS. We have had a real problem with deer hunters dropping their dogs off intentionally right in the middle of our property. These dogs rarely make it off the place without a bullet in their butt. BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a fine line when you shoot dogs. If I saw a Lab or other duck dog running around with a collar we don't shoot. But if some SOB does what I referred to earlier, I will get off my stand just to take care of business.

That bleep, bleep bleep, bleep sucks. Choc, if you can prove this you can take him to court and win with ease. I know a couple of instances were someone shot dogs and got in a lot of trouble. One instance the guy shot 5 or 6 highly pedigreed deer dogs and he had to pay the court cost and pay the owner 800$ per dog. He also got probation. I hate to hear that about your dogs.

A month aga some "turd-cutter" poisoned four dogs from our neighborhood. All dogs tested had the exact same poison. Chopped ham soaked in it. I haven't found out who but when I do (Judge I might need your help). Anyway I am putting up a Wrought Iron fence now and hopefully won't have to worry about it any more. Choclab I hope you find your dog safe and sound.

sorry to hear this........

I agree he needs a good whuppin and if he has beagles I cant see him shooting another mans dog.......

willis,I cant agree with you on this deer dog thing ,however(when I used to run deer dogs) I did have a man that would catch our dogs and call the cops, and still does, and tell them we were on his land hunting...... AND WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE IF IT IS A DEER DOG OR A DUCK DOG IT IS STILL WRONG TO SHOOT A DOG FOR BEING ON YOUR LAND.
Thanks
Bruce

Willis,
how on earth could you justify killing any dog. I'm sure that they never meant to harm you by running deer on your property. Man up and face the owner, whup his booty if you feel like it but, don't kill a defenseless animal for no other reason than frustration. Bryan.

Postby wellisIII » Sat Dec 27, 2003 8:42 am

I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT SHOOTING PRIZE DOGS. I'M TALKING ABOUT SHOOTING WILD DOGS THAT SOME SOB BOUGHT AND DECIDED THAT HE COULDN'T TAKE CARE OF IT SO WHAT DOES HE DO. HE DECIDES THAT THE DOG SHOULD ROAM WILD ON MY LAND. THESE DOGS SOMETIMES DO RUN DEER ON OUR LAND BUT MAINLY RUN THEM OFF. CALL ME WHATEVER YOU WANT BUT YOU GUYS THAT ARE TALKING BAD ABOUT IT HAVE PROBABLY NEVER HAD THE PROBLEM. COME HUNT WITH ME. RIGHT ABOUT DARK WHEN IT'S GETTING GOOD, SOME BLEEPEDY BLEEPING DOG RUNS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR AREA HOLLERING AND RAISING HELL.
