I have a 290 (Farm Boss) that I run an 18'' bar on and have had it for about 9 years and have not had a minutes trouble out of it. I also have a 440 that I run a 24'' and 28'' bar on and have not had any trouble out of it either. As for cranking/flooding I have never had that problem with either. I choke it, pull 2-3 times till it hits, flip the choke off and it will crank in 1-3 pulls. That is is same sequence for both saws except on the 440 you better remember to push in the decompression valve or you will jerk your shoulder out of the socket. Also have a couple Stihl Blowers and weedeaters and I would not buy another brand besides stihl. Just my 2 cents.
