but seriously, i have O- blood type which is the rare kind from what i hear so i try to donate when i can. i donated the other day and i noticed it hurt a lot more afterwards than it usually does and now i have a big black bruise about the size of my hand on the side of my forearm and the bruise has just gotten bigger.... i doubt its anything but i figured id ask some of you doc guys here before i worried about anything.

Guy here in the church had that happen last year when he donated platelets, If I remember correctly he just had some blood drain in his arm under the skin.

+1 (not +1 it burns when I pee), I am a universal donor and I donate when I can. I had it happen to me one time last yr. Ace is right it should clear right up after a few more days.

You should be fine, just some extra bleeding under the skin after you were done donating. Take you a pen or a sharpie and try to draw a line around the dark area on the border of it. If it continues to get bigger, go ahead and see someone about it but it is fairly common when donating blood or having blood drawn.

I swear the nurse (or black lady dressed in scrubs, which ever) took a running start with that needle.
