its a liability / lawsuit issue. Let little 8 y/o johnny, riding with his dad, hit a rut on his 70cc 4-wheeler, flip over and knock himself loonie. or worse, end up in a wheelchair... especially with the tort laws in Mississippi....
Sometimes you just have to close your eyes, count to ten, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you wouldn't look good in prison stripes... and just smile at that dumbass and walk away.
ive been ticketed
ive been ticketed and warned twice but i just put it on now right before i get to the truck.i also hunt at enid lake and there isnt any rules down there.i guess the yuppy laws havent made it that far yet.

What do you mean by that? Sales tax from having to go out and buy a helmet??? Well you can stick it back to the Gov't. if you like, just mail order one from out of state and bypass the sales tax.
Take that Uncle Sam!!

Hey Wildfowler, I'm not a mind reader but I think he was referring to citation income. Just like the seatbelt laws....easy pick'ns.
Personally I disagree with any law that is designed to protect people from themselves. The problem is the our Judges these days actually allow such lawsuits in the courts.
If you choose not to wear a helmet and bust your head open, that's your own &$%# fault. Anyway that's the way I see it. Wonder if you can sue for a broken leg or foot??? Next thing you know will be required to wear "motorcross" boots, sure would make for a cold duck hunt ( knee deep water and shin deep boot).

MDH asked 'Hmm I dont hunt these areas but I might one day. What does the helmet law state'.... Dude, I havent read the law, but I bet it says ya got to wear a helment!
I think its a good law. But they should only ticket the people stupid enough to fall off a 4 wheeler and bump their head while going hunting. Make the law read, its illegal to fall off a 4 wheeler without a helment on! Ticket the stupid people, who need to be protected from themselves.
I got a ticket the other day for no seatbelt. I wear mine 90% of the time, but from the house to the shop I dont, its all 30 mph dirivng. I was shocked... I told the cop " man do you realize how riduclous this is?' his answer, it was seat belt stops, or running radar, most people wants this ticket instead. Told him to go stop speeders without seat belts, and give them 2 tickets, and leave people obeying the law the hell alone. travis

No, maximum fine should be sterlization. In just a couple generations of sterlizing stupid people for moving violations, not being able to order fast food, or just in general being stupid, we could stamp out stupid people! travis (who thinks the speed limits would be higher if the traffic laws weren't dumbed down)
