These snows are getting wierd. I hunt a cow pond in Lowndes county sometimes, and darned if we didn't kill 3 juv. snows there 3 weeks ago. Today I go back and kill 2 adult snows. I guess they are spreading out.

I also saw a swan today in West Point. Last year there was a Trumpeter near the Refuge, and I didn't have my binoculars to see if this was one or not, but it was a wild swan for sure (not a mute swan).

we alway "run & gun" them in arkansas, after the morning's first flight is over... find the field they are feeding in, and either sneak up on them, or i turn Jr. Broker loose with a couple of his fleet-footed football buddies and BBB shot. takes us a couple of hours to 'clean up' the cripples...
Sometimes you just have to close your eyes, count to ten, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you wouldn't look good in prison stripes... and just smile at that dumbass and walk away.

OK, it is time to get this goose hunt together. Wingman, I got your PM, so here goes. We need to get down to making this hunt happen. Wingman has said he will find the geese and the land to hunt. I will work to organize the hunt. How does the 30th sound to everyone? I think if the ones that can bring dekes and silos make it to the hunt we should have a big spread. Featherduster said he has access to 1200 dekes and several others have rags and other stuff. Featherduster, can you hunt on the 30th?

Everyone, check your calendar and let us know.

snow geese

Postby champcaller » Mon Dec 22, 2003 12:53 pm

Man I think that is an awesome idea!! :D 8) Plus with all the bad hunting besides woodies it would give some good shooting. I haven't even shot a goose. I guess this would be a good time to start. Ducks&Hogs PM me if you want to try to get this thing going.

Sorry guys but I won't be able to make the hunt on the 30th. In-laws are in town and I don't want to get in trouble with the "boss". :( You married guys know what I mean.

Maybe I can catch up on another one.

Merry Christmas.

webbmaster is right about their location. There is a high concentration of snows between hwy 8 and hwy 32.

I've seen those snows on 32 moving to the west end of Buzzard Bayou and then back to the field behind Strider. Any chance of getting permission to eradicate them?

I can do the 30th. But I think if we get over 8 guys, we're gonna be pushing it. I may be wrong. Maybe we could do two groups, but I wouldn't want two groups going on places I have access to because I feel I need to be with all who are hunting if a landowner has given me permission to hunt.

Dang...talk about give an inch and take a mile ;)

Really, my time is limited to just a few days after Christmas because I have groups of hunters coming in from the 1st thru the 7th and on every weekend until it closes.

I'm sure someone else on this board has some fields to hunt. I am still willing to find the geese and get the land for 1 group.

The ones that are able to hunt on the 30th need to give me a call on the cell. 662-347-7759. I will be away from the computer for several days after Christmas. I do not have an internet conection in my blinds.

I have geese on two fields now. Don't know how long. I have shells and rags in one field and it is full. They have been coming in around 8 30 and leaving around 2. With duck season closing today I think we will whack um in the am.

Hey, Bart, I meant no offense by the coyote statement. You fellas must have several deep freezes to put up that many geese. Personally, it's too much work for me, but congrats on killing that many birds.

So, the question is: how do they taste?
