I usually use a pea whistle, Roy Gonia Mega.

SIT beeeep. (hard/soft air depending on the dog distance)

COME beep-beep-beep-beep-beep ( 5 fast beat)

COME IN SHORT and SLOW bep...bep...bep ( 3 slow beat)

PICK IT UP or FETCH beep-beep

COME AROUND (upland hunting) beee-bep This works best with a pea whistle. The whislte starts with a low tone (soft air) then rolls to a higher tone (hard air). It sounds kinda like "criiiick-et!" It is difficult to describe, but if you heard it you could easily duplicate the sound.

HUNT IT UP beep-beep...beep-beep. Sounds like two "pick it ups".

If I am hunting with my hunting buddy's dog along with mine, I usually use voice command for upland hunting together. Eventhough he uses a Fox 40, the dogs will respond to different whistles. In fact, my dogs are conditioned to respond to a Roy Gonia Mega, Roy Gonia, R G Orange pealess, and a Green Monster.
