Postby MemphisStockBroker » Thu Dec 11, 2003 4:55 pm

the question of the day.

hunted Quitman county this morning. didnt fire a shot.
drove around Crowder, Falcon, Sledge, Crenshaw, Pritchard, Tunica,
over to Coldwater..... no ducks in the usual holes. :(

Saw quite a few snow geese, but that ain't what we waz lookin' fer....

They are still here!!!
Limits of big ducks everyday this week.
Pretty bad I left AR early and brought some guys up here to kill ducks!!
Shoot ducks in the morning and pheasants in the afternoon.
The good news is it's 12 outside right now, going down to the single digits tonight they say, and the next couple nights.
Got the big boat ready heading to the river tomorrow!!
Was going to go back to AR next week but not hearing good things from there.....
I'm a Cubs fan and a duck hunter..maybe next year...saying maybe next year in May makes for a long year........

All of the refuge areas in Missouri have doubled the number of ducks they are holding in the last few days. I guess it is due to the snow in the Dakotas. It is cold there right now, and is supposed to be freezing up in the next few days, so maybe they are starting to head this way. I remember last year it was really late in Jan. when the areas in Missouri were reporting extremely high numbers of ducks. Maybe they will come our way a little early this year.

These refuges are screwing us.

Where can we go to look at the properties that the MDWFP (or other states between us and the ducks) owns. I would like to know how much they are setting up as refuges. That should be public knowledge right? Anyone know if there is something on the web? SB, can you help?

There are definitely some big ducks in Quitman county in select places at least:
Thursday morning - 2 hunters, 10 ducks (7 mallards)
In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock.
