he just won the Maxwell to go along with the Golden Arm and a few others, Ole Miss fan or not, you can say waht you want about him, but you have to agree that he is a heckuva quarterback. And...... silverback everything as of now is putting him finishing number 2 behind Jason white who is the ''favorite'' for the award, and he didnt' win his conference either if you want to make that argument.

I never said he was not a good QB. I said that the heisman was given to the best football player in the country and that he is not. He did wonders for Ole Miss but he never won a conference championship or national championship. He and his brother have never won the big games and never will. That is just my opinion. Great family and people but choke in the big games.

Eli will not win the Heisman not because of his abilities, but because of the team he is on...the Ole Miss Rebels. It has nothing to do with the mascot, the name "Ole Miss" or the slogan the "Rebels", but because of the team. Put Eli Manning Florida State University or a Tennessee, or a Michigan or an Ohio State team, and you have a hands down Heisman Trophy winner. Believe it or not, the Heisman Trophy winner wins because of the team he is on and how many times they get on ESPN Sport Center. There are tons of guys that are over looked each year that are outstanding players, but do not get the attention they deserve because of the "team" they play for. A quarter back is only as good as his recievers, and vice versa, and a running back is only as good as his offensive line. Take any part of that away and you only have an average Joe throwing, catching or running the ball. Don't get me wrong, Eli has OUTSTANDING numbers, but it takes a team and attention to get the Heisman and all Eli has on his side his the name "Manning" which has brought attention to Oxford, MS, but the Ole Miss Rebels failed as a team to get the job done against teams they should have beaten. That is why Eli Manning will not win the Heisman. I am an Ole Miss fan and am pulling for Eli, but it will not happen, but not because of his abilities.

As for Eli Manning heading to the Saints, I sure hope not. They would have to redo their entire offense. I would love to see the Saints get a really good QB, but not so sure I want son following in Dads footsteps. Look how Archie's career went with the Saints. Yes, I know, it is a different time, but lets face it, unless the owners of the Saints are willing to shell out some money and revamp that team, it is never going to get any better. I will agree that Brooks is not the QB that is going to lead the Saints to a Super Bowl. It just isn't in him.

Eli has just as good of a chance of winning the Heisman as any of the other finalists. Like him or not he is one heck of a quarterback. My pick is Eli. By the way, who was Mississippi State's heisman candidate? Could GH22 help us out with the answer! Just having some fun GH22! Nothing personal. Hope everyone kills a limit this weekend.

I agree Eli has a good chance. Im a State fan, but i would like to see him win. The okla. kid sucked big time in his championship game so you could saay he cant play under pressure, so he isnt the best. They also had a weak schedule.
As for talking about archie and peyton, if you had any other family in football history that had a father and two sons invited to the Heisman presentation with a real chance of winning, they would be talking about them too. THis is history, there want every be another family with 3 emidiate members up for this award. We all should be talking about it , Old MISS fan or not! Anyway since FANT didnt make it im for ELI.
oh yeah , old miss fans wait til next year, because you dont have any experience at qb, thank goodness. Go CROOM!

It's a sentimental favorite for me. What a great family of quarterbacks...wish they could have been dawgs, but....! Love Ole Miss or hate Ole Miss, he was heart and soul of that team this year. Remove him and it would be like the Falcons without Mike Vick...ugly! But, whether he is the best football player in America or not...can't say. I can say it is great that he is at the table in New York when the announcement is made! Only a few make it there and I am proud for him, his family, the Rebels, and the state of MS. He has served the sport, his university, his family, and the state as a great ambassador. So, Rebels, Dawgs, Golden Eagles, and whoever else cares about football...give up a little respect for a young man who has done it right! Wish there were more like him...and I wish they went to MSU! Well done, Eli!
