You can probably rent it for a lot more if there is other ag lands that can be dove hunted too. 70 days of dove season is a long time to be tied to one field. Depends on location and acres too.

Most places in the Delta are lease per day type arrangements so like said above you can hunt and move around to different spots on different days. It's usually around 100-150/gun/day but i've seen it as high as 200-250 for hot spots on opening weekend.

I wouldn't take less than $500 per acre.

You are laughing about that $500 acre.
I have a 23 acre field with patch of woods next to it on the West side, ditch on the East side, power line on the South, I had a false power line put up on the East side about 12 years ago with an old big tv antenna on one of the poles. I've planted Sunflowers for the last 15 years. Always have had great hunts.
I treat the sunflowers just like I do my cotton!
land rent------- $1840
Hybrid seed ---- $ 750
everything else--$4025
Total--$6615
real close to $300 acre
At the most would only hunt 12 adults!

You are correct. That's what I was referring to. Also, when it comes to leasing really good proven hunting land, the sky is the limit as far as asking price.

That is getting serious about a dove field!

What falls into the "Everything Else-$4025" category? I'm guessing use of the tractor, fuel, and labor. Is that right?

I am gonna lease the first 3 weekends of dove season. I lease the deer and turkey rights so I want to keep the deer hunters happy....they dont want the dove lease. heck I just go to see what happens......hell if nobody leases it I will hunt it.

Chemicals and fertilzer. It would be more if I added labor and equipment.

Liquid nitrogen went from 240 or so a ton in 2007 to 480 a ton on me last year. It doesn't take much of that to make you re-think planting a dove field.
Folks think a dove hunt should cost 25 dollars. Maybe so on a disked up field with wheat spread or a cut corn field, but not on a field devoted specifically to doves and you dump a lot of cash into all year long. It takes a lot of money to grow a bonafide dove field.
