Outboard motor question
I know you can run a tall transom motor on a short transom boat. Can you run a short transom motor on a tall transom boat? Will you just be able to putt around or can I give it alittle gas?
Re: Outboard motor question
I'm not motorboat expert, but I think running a short motor on a tall transom will cause the motor to cavitate excessively and not suck up enough water for cooling as a result of not being low enough in the water.

You can only put around. If not, what wingman says applies.

That's what I figured. I've got a short transom 25 that I have had for years. I've got a tall transom boat that I sold my motor off of. I was wanting to put the shortie on and just putt around Bee Lake and do some crappie fishing.

Re: Outboard motor question
you'd probably be ok just putting around with it
shoot them in the face they may be wearing body armor lol
Re: Outboard motor question
Yeah, as long as you don't plane it out, you'll probably be fine.
I know that every once in a while my work boat will cavitate and I have to stop and go again. Custom boat with a 90 Johnson on it and I think the motor is a little too short.

You may be able to put on some sort of jack-plate or extention and lower the motor down enough.
