Las Vegas Hotels
Myself the wife and another couple are planning to go to Vegas sometime in March. Just wondering what are some nice hotels to stay in and what shows some of you that have been might recommend. We want to stay on the Strip. I have looked at a few on hotel.com but havent ever been there so dont know what to look for. Just dont want to stay in some nasty roach infested place. looking in the $80 to $200 per night range.
thanks

Re: Las Vegas Hotels
I was out there in Dec for the NFR. We stayed at the Excalibur, it was clean and everything but nothing special.
We were in and out of several places that were cool like the Venetian, the Luxor, Ceaser's Palace, New York New York.

go to priceline, pick a 5 star in vegas, and put in 150 bucks a night. the bellagio is the only 5 star on priceline in vegas (or it was last i checked), so you can get that hotel for about half price.

Do yourself a favor and stay at the Bellagio. A little more expensive (but not much) and I swear, what little I slept, that was the most comfortable bed EVER. And the Bellagio has the Venetian beat as far as wow factor IMO. It's all impressive once you're there but if/when I go back, Bellagio all the way without a doubt...

I'm leaving in the morning to go out there. We got our rooms at the Stratosphere for $40 a night. I'll be out there for a week, is there anything that I "must see or must do."

Check out Red Rock Canyon and Hoover Dam. They have a gun range you can rent fully auto guns...expensive, but, very fun. Do the NASCAR Experience and ride the rides at the top of Stratasphere. The roller coaster at the Sahara is fun. Check out the Fremont Experience as well...y'all have fun

I enjoyed sigfreid and roy's magic garden. a lot of leopards, tigers and lions up close and personal.

Hoover Dam and Red Rock for sure, they have a helicopter ride for the Hoover and it is about $200 per person.... but it last almost hour. Well worth it.

We stayed at the MGM and enjoyed it but it is far on one side of the strip. When we go back it will be at Bellagio.
In my opinion as far as shows go you have to see KA at the MGM and O at the bellagio was awesome. Our group liked KA the best but both were phenominal. The price you pay for the ticket seems like a lot till you see the show.
We say Jubilee at the Bally, it is an original Vegas show that was really good. 10 times better than what I was anticipating. There are several free shows, a pirate show outside of treasure island and the water show at bellagio is good also.
Don't waste your money on the price is right and don't waste your time going down to see circus circus casino.
Also my wife brought up another good point, use the buses on the strip and don't worry about the monterail. At some of the places it drops you off you could be 1/2 mile (at least) from where your destination is planning on being.
We went on our anniversary two years ago in March. The saying what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas aint always true. I got a 14 month old son to prove it.

I work in the casino industry and I have stayed at most of them in the past. I now work Colony Capital LLC and they own the Las Vegas Hilton. That is where I stay because the rooms are free, but they are real nice rooms for about $99.00 a night and they are real close to the strip. Plus some of the best entertainment is at the Hilton. Safe family atmosphere also...
