from what i understand, there is no hunting period in Madison City limits, no matter how much land you have. Anyone know if this is true?

If you have 12 continuous acres in the city limits you can legally shoot any type of firearm for hunting purposes

Dont know for sure but have been told that some of the madison fire dept. guys hunt that trac behind Saint Katherines. It comes almost up to the back of our school, an there are some studs in there!

Just to update everyone!!! We have plenty of possible members and I think we have enough money gathered up to lease the land in MY OPINION!!! This project may take me a couple of months to finish but I will contact each and every land owner and see about leasing their property, starting this weekend. I don't live in clinton so it may be longer!!! Everyone be patient and I'll update you through-out the process. I have pulled up around 3000 acres in this area and if I can just get 50% of the landowners to work something out it could be a great place to bowhunt. If I can get 90-95% of the land, then it will phenomenal!!!!

I was speaking for the City of Clinton - not sure about Madison. And it is actually 10 continuous acres, not sure where I got the 12 from.

I'm working on putting together a lease anywhere between 500-1300 acres of bowhunting only land in Hinds county. Some of it is a big block of land and some of it is scattered out. But it is all within 3 miles of each other. It could be hard for me to get it together because there are several land owners but it has plenty of deer and it definitely has quality bucks in this area. I have hunted this area for the past 9 years and I have seen bucks that range from the smallest all the way to the 170 class bucks. Every year I have taken some good bucks and for the last 9 years i have at least had an encounter with a 140+ buck or better!!! It may be expensive to get some of this land but if I can get the land, I promise you it will be a waiting list to get to hunt it within about 2-3 years. It's a mixture of fields, cutover, hardwoods, Lakes, creeks, Pines and everything in between and there is about 800 acres(Can't get this property) that are right in the middle of this property that doesn't get hunted at all!!! I don't know what the cost will be or how many acres it will be in the end or if it will even exist by next september. My question is,

If I can get this land and get it organized, Would you be interested? If you are, send me a pm with your contact info and your budget on how much you are willing to spend on a Bow Only Camp so i know how far I can go with the negotiations!

Coming from downtown jackson, you could be in your stand in 20-25 minutes. Coming from Madison, 30 minutes and brandon 30 minutes. I been wanting to do this but it has taken some time for me to gather all the information! I believe if i can get enough people that are serious about bowhunting all year and we can get enough money together we could have a fine place to hunt for several years!
