Teal Mounts

Postby WilM88 » Mon Jan 26, 2009 3:33 pm

I killed my first pair of Blue Wings yesterday, beautiful pair and I would like to get them mounted.
If ya'll have any pictures of GW or BW's mounted I would like to see them so I can get some ideas.
Also who do ya'll recommend? thanks

pat pitt, "the waterfowler" on here does excellent work. he is in Olive Branch. I'm sure someone will post threads with all his pictures. Check him out.

pat, while you are showing mounts, would you mind showing me some mounts of buffleheads that you have? I have one in my freezer that has your name one it and was just curious as to some of your favorite poses for them.

The first duck I ever had mounted was a drake Bufflehead back in 1963. Paid $10 for it and still have him. They are cute little ducks and IMO make a better standing or laying down mount than flying, but look good any way you do them.

well you are the artist, I am going to let you decide how to do it. I hope to come up there with Gator in the next few weeks or so.

pat, that's a bunch of beautiful mounts.

that buffie is fashioned just the way i was wanting my own alaskan buffie mounted, as well as my harlie. something about those 2 species that just appeals to me in a standing pose.

not sure on the GE but i feel like i want it flying and no i want the surf doing so.

anyhow, once again, AWESOME stuff man.

lawdawg, you're welcome to ride up anytime.......just gotta get pat to sit still awhile considering turkey season is coming. i gotta pick up a goose soon anyhow, so maybe we can put our heads together on poses.......i'm cutting photos outta DU and DW mags right now to help me decide.

First mounted duck that Anita incorporated into the interior decor was a bufflehead Pat did. It was mounted "swimming style", belly down on a piece of driftwood. I like that buewinged teal pose, perfect for showing off all the colors.

Got my first bull sprig this year. Going to have him mounted. Would you mind posting some examples of your pintail mounts?

Great work Pat! I'm Jack Mallette, T.J's dad, and I have a freezer full of ducks I'd like to get mounted. How long do they keep in the freezer? Also, how much for a single mount, and a triple mount on the driftwood like you showed in the pic? And where seems the best place to shoot a Cinnamon Teal? That's #1 on my Most Wanted list. Thanks!

West coast of Mexico has lots of Cinnamons. I can hook you up down there. Febuary Cinnamons are exqusite.

Birds can be kept for several years in a freezer, but it depends on how well they are wrapped. $200 each but will go to $225 3/1.
