Redfish/Speckled Trout Guides in Louisiana

Postby @work » Tue Jan 27, 2009 8:57 pm

I need some recommendations for a guide(s) in south LA. The father/son guides I've used in the past out of Golden Meadow are now $600 per day. I'd actually like to try on the east side of the Miss. river for a change of scenery. I see several guides in the $425/day range but I know nothing about them.

Try George Ricks around the St. Bernard parrish.....He will put you on some good fishing and he is quite the comedian!

I think his link is www.rodnreel.com/getaway

Hopedale and Shell Beach are both great places to fish on the east side of the river. George Ricks fishes this area and is a good guide. Bigfish guide services out of the Breton Sound Marina is one of the cheapest and the best IMO. Fishing with the King(Frank Moore) probably catches more specks than anybody. Capt. Charlie Tomilson, Jonathan Sanchez, and Kerry Audibert are also great. You can't go wrong with any of these. Venice is also a great place to fish if you want to go farther south.

aka Capt. Mark Wright better known around here as 'legends of lower mars'. He is a tournament fisher, the son of a hancock county game warden, has the right price, the right equipment, and will simply put you on the fish.

Ask about the bunk house he has been building for customers, he may have it finished.

I fish Hopedale, Venice, and Fourchon alot If I was looking for a guide I would use these guys.

Hopedale- George Ricks

Venice- Bobby Warren

Fourchon- Aron Pierce

No question the best guides

You should try Shore Thing Charters. They leave out of Bay St.Louis, Ms but fish the Louisiana marsh. Their prices are around the $450 mark and they offer everything... lodging, fish cleaning, fuel, bait, the works. Capt. Sonny Schindler one of the guides that works for them will be at The Saltwater Sportsman Seminar this year talking about speckled trout and redfishing in the La marsh.
I fished with Capt. Matt Tusa several times to and highly recommend him.You can reach them at 228-493-9743 or go to the website www.shorethingcharters.com. Good Luck
