Duck Picker wrote:It cracks me up at how the "reverend" that gave the benediction can be unquestionably racist in his PRAYER, and everything about this whole inauguration is borderline racist and yet you get your drawers in a bunch because of some comments on here. All I heard out of the media and during the inauguration today was about his color. If the same things had been said at a white president's inauguration you would never hear the end of it by the dark side. It was my understanding that we were not to focus on the color of skin but the content of character yet all I heard today was about the color of his skin. And it's the character of Obama that has caused him to loose my respect. I'm still trying to figure out how to respect the office while having no respect for the man. Maybe somebody can help me figure that one out. I don't wish that he would be shot or that any ill will would come on him. The man is a father and a husband and I would hate to see someone try and harm him. I just hate seeing him as the our President.

+1

the reason thay talked about race is there is nothing else they can say about him. I mean what has he realy done besides voted present .

Sounds like to me that you were a full fledge supporter of the Obama campaign. Even though you state that you are a republican. This forum is about guys stating their own opinion. If you don't like it, then don't read it. that's the way it goes and i'm not trying to be an booty about it. i agree with alot of what you said in the original post, but facts are facts. this whole election was based on race. Personally, i'm sick of hearing about it. the fellow is our president and will lead our country in one of the worst times it's been in. Sad thing is, its only going to get worse with the promises that people think he has made. Some people actually think he will pay their bills for them. The worst time is yet to come. Wait till people start relying on these promises that OBAMA can't fulfill. its about to get ugly and i'm going to ride it out hoping that i will still have a job. If you don't like racism i suggest you move into one of our little mississippi delta towns for a week or two. You'll think differently.
to add to this, the inaugaration for Obama cost $170 million, I remember hearing people b^tch about president Bush's $40 million dollar inaugaration. Don't think that our country needs to be spending this kind of money right now. But hey, it grows on trees now a days. Print more

by the way, this is my .02cents as a taxpayer and citizen of this country.

I think you are wrong in a lot of what you have said about my post. Especially the part about me acting like no one else has served. I know there are probably a lot of veterans here as well. And being a doctor for cheap is serving too. Just in a different way. I was just trying to make the point that badmouthing the president, no matter if you like him or not, in a completely ignorant way is disrespectful and unpatriotic. I didn't like Bush that much, but I would never talk about him the way some of you talked about his replacement. That is not the American way. We can disagree without being totally insulting to our nation

Duck picker,

It became about race when somebody said," he can't repeat after the white man - wasup nikka? where my money" - and it goes on and on. You are right about the media. But if you have a problem with them, write them a letter. I'm talking about people here.

I don't mind saying that the real problem is that the white people are tired of being accused of not voting for Pres. Osama because he is black, I for one am tired of being called a racist when 90% of the blacks voted for him because he is black. To me there is the racism, Do something about that and you will have cured the race problem in America....

These two post mentiond just shows that "politics" is just like "religion" In the fact that it is just a bunch of people saying JUNK about the people who believe differently than themselves.

that being said, im making it a point to pray for a president every day. He is our commander in chief, and im behind him. I like Jeff ,was a Mccain supporter, But ulimatly i am an American! and support our governemnt and pray they do a better job managing our resources!

Reality only 12-15% of nation is Black. Basically the white people of this nation elected Obama. Don't go dig your bunkers yet and stock up on can goods. He has surrounded himself with some pretty smart people.lets pray they can start the fixing. I just wish Tim Russet was still alive.

Jake, hang around...most of the folks on here are good people who, like you and me, have moments that are not what some would call "in good taste." Some of us have more than others!

That said, many of us here have made stands against blatant racism, black and white, over the years. We have called others out for statements that support the stereotyping of the southern racist. We've blasted republicans, we've cussed democrats, we've made fun of libertarians. Bottom line, this is an equal opportunity offender!

The site sometimes is pretty much a place to shoot off one's mouth and still not get punched in the face. Sometimes we have to ask forgiveness; sometimes we have to forgive those who offend us. We're just a bunch of Americans of all persuasions with all sorts of opinions, likes and dislikes. America still provides for us to be stupid and not be thrown in jail for it. Many of us have fought and bled to keep that part of freedom. Whole some of us would prefer that others not abuse it, I still will defend their right to abuse it if it is what they truly believe. But I also reserve my part of that same freedom to take offense to it.

Thank you for sharing your offense. Stay around and find the stuff you agree with, as well. There will be lots of that, and a little of the former.

I love the river over there by Franklin. Love it when the hybids start running!

Jake have you ever been to the Delta? You say that you are from Franklin County GA which is almost 90% white and only 11% of people live in poverty.

I ask this because I live in the Delta where it’s almost 90% black and almost 40% live in poverty, which can make a person a little touchy when all you hear is I deserve this, I am entitled to this, slavery this, f^ck white this, etc. etc. I would bet that when Obama was elected that you didn’t have 20 people hollering, and yelling like they won the lottery, yelling in your face saying “WTF you going to do now boy, I bet all yall crackers are scared, bout time a real cheeseburger got elected.” This happened at a covenient store the day he was elected and after I had been working all day to pay for there sorry ace.

Yeah he is our president, and I hope he does a great job because it can get worse than it is now.

Crow, I always value your opinion. I may not agree but it almost always makes me think. I know the last elections have been close, but when is the last time people in this country were so vehemently opposed to a candidate. I did not vote for Clinton, but my distaste for him was nothing like it is for BO. Before anything says somehting else stupid, it has nothing to dow with the fact BO is a BI-RACIAL (not black, not white)

Thank you Jake Lunsford for your service

We do need to support him and PRAY FOR HIM... the Bible says so. He has a terribly tough job ahead of him.....BUT he is still young, an not experienced, and people are going to use him to "feather their own nests", push their own agendas (Rev. at the Benediction saying, let the White Man do whats right man, inferring that he has/still is doing wrong), etc.

This election and his campaign was about electing a new president, not electing a Black President.... Yesterday, whoever put together the event, and particularly the MEDIA pushed the fact that this was a historic day, only because he is one-half Black. Shame on them. and I agree we should all be ashamed for our ignorant racist remarks. I am not ashamed of our "informed" Racist remarks, though.

I'm beginning to think the problem with alot of our issues is the media. They latch on to the most scalding comments, idiotic decisions, tasteless acts and biggest headlines just for ratings regardless of the effect it could have on our people or our country. Take the incident with the prisoners from Abu Grab (sp?) that were stripped down and had some pics taken of them, why did going public with those pictures seem like a good idea? If anyone remembers the terrorist captured and killed an American civilian contractor as retaliation.

Granted the hazing was stupid but when you are fighting a people that fight dirty anyway, don't show them the pictures giving them reason to fight any dirtier.

The media make it a spectacle of race yesterday more than any other group.
