Weather caused it to crack if the house wasn't heated. We've had some big swings lately.

If you can match the tile you can just pull the cracked ones and put a new one down. No need to re-do the whole floor unless you just really want to.

To me, the cracks that matador describes makes more sense due to the age of the house & the thinset products used back in the day. In your case, the tile should have been set with a thinset designed to absorb small slab expansion/contraction due to temp changes that you describe above. Is it possible that someone used a sub-par thinset & this is the root cause? anything is possible, but my money would be on house movement due to soil conditions until someone (SE) proved me otherwise.

I had to rent a pretty large electric jack hammer to get the thinset up so we could put new tile down. I had to sharpen their widest blade, but it did come up.

Yeah, let me clarify, the cracks I am seeing lately are mostly wall cracks. Just stating that he cold will cause them even when there isn't foundation shifting but more than likely you are looking at some settling issues.
If you need someones name for a report, let me know. Also, if the house is vacant and you just want someone to come out and take a measurement, let m eknow. My guy can come out and tell you if there is some "drop" for free.
