Newbie Automatic??????

Postby cturner_24 » Wed Jan 14, 2009 7:19 am

Hey guys needing some opinions here. Looking into purchasing a automatic shotgun. Dont really care to spend 1500 dollars, unless that is what it will take to fulfill may expectations. Im looking for shotgun that will have no trouble cycling light load shells for dove and clay pigeons. Also if I decided to purchase one in the 3 1/2 inch chamber vs the 3 inch, does that have any effect on how well it will cycle light load shells. I guess what I was asking, does it matter what chamber on how well it will cycle light load shells? Are is that clearly left up to the brand gun you buy? Im mainly looking to dove hunt and skeet shoot, and occasionally duck and turkey hunt. If it doesnt matter on the chamber then I thought about purchasing one in a 3 1/2 inch chamber, that way I will have the option if ever needing 3 1/2 inch shot shells.

Guns I have considered: winchester super x3- I really like the feel of this one. 3in or 3 1/2 (depends on cycling)

beretta urika- Felt kind of bulky, but read good reviews. 3in.

remington 1187-Someone suggested this one to me. 3 in.

Im kind of leaning toward the winchester x3, but im very interested to hear what you guys have to say.

THANKS

Ive got the super x3 3.5 inch. and love it. Its a great all purpose gun. Got 2 buddies with the x2 and after hunting with them for a year I went to the gun shop for the x3.

Walmart Beretta AL390 $500+/-. Shoots 3" and is a beast that won't stop.

+1 on what Crow said. A beast that will not stop. Shot one at The Willows a couple of weeks ago and cycled light loads flawlessly. Talked to the guide with us and he told us the guns have about 10,000 rounds through them and still chugging along.

Will be my next purchase.

Beretta Xtremma 2 with Kick Off. Expensive, but if you want to shoot 3.5" and light target...it's worth it.

Also like the Winchester SX3. Got the same bolt group as the Browning Silver, but the gas system seems to be better...probably no difference...generic like the SX2 and Gold. Got a slimmer, lighter feel than the Browning.

All I can say is don't skimp if you want 3.5" Auto!!! You'll kick yourself later...and the gun will Kick you now!!! :D

Just My $0.02
