casualties this season

The cell phone in the water thread got me to thinking.

What has been lost for good or lost and recovered this season?

2 bass pro hand saws, a screw driver, the anchor for my boat, my robo extension pole, my glasses but were recovered,countless number of poorly ejected shells and my brother almost went overboard. I think that about sums it up.

Anyone else?

LOST and FOUND: Leatherman Wave (dropped in waist deep water) , SBE (took a dip 2 times in waist deep water)

That reminds me, the 870 was dropped twice in the same hunt. Then to top it off I had a bad shell that exploded in the chamber. The wad made it 3 inches down the barrel. Powder blew out the chamber. Not a very good day for the gun. Needless to say I have her a nice lube bath when I got home. Hehe

Lost a robo pole and extension pole to grap decoys, 2 cell phones and probably 15-20 shells dropped in the water

Been a rough year for me loosing stuff:

5 Avery marsh stools (three different occasions)

1 Tri Trinoics Flyway special remote and case

2 cane knives

Having a dramatic increase in decoys that have developed leaks. Must have something to do with the kids going more.

Ive dunked mine this year too but it was only in knee deep water. Before my brain could register what had happened i had stuck my whole arm down to "catch" it. I stuck my arm elbow deep jacket, glove and all. And it was freezin that mornin.

I learned a valuable lesson this year. I hunt alone a good bit which involves me loading and unloading my boat by myself.

Well I backed down the ramp, unloaded, pulled up slightly, grabbed the rope attached to the boat and grounded the boat just to the side of the ramp. It was a cold day so I started the out board and got back in my truck and pulled it up the ramp and into the parking lot. Spent a couple minutes gathering gear and started back to the boat. Just as the boat comes into view, I notice its about 15 feet off the bank and moving away from me. So off comes the clothes, down to my pants and T shirt. dove in and swam to my boat. Coldest day of my life.

Now when I ground my boat I GROUND my boat. I have heard stories of this happening but of course I thought, this would never happen to me. And it did.

haha done that befor thank god it was summer and i was fishing, usually what i do with skiffs and smaller boats when im launching them by myself is attach a long rope from the bow to some part of my truck that is sturdy and back it down till some of rope in the bed starts coming out then pull up a little bit and take the excess and pull the boat where you need it and use the rope to tie off to something, ive seen other people use bandoleirs (sp?) so its just a easy unhook and go

2 Flashlights, and 2 life jackets last night.

Also almost lost my boat...guys those safety chains are worth theyre weight in gold. Got 15 miles from the boat ramp headed home and my hitch came off the truck ball.... ...(its the right size)..luckily we were going slow stop sign 100yds ahead when I felt the truck bump (figured at first it was the dog repositioning in the box) then heard a lot of noise and my buddy saw sparks out of the passenger rearview mirror.

only damage was a bent car tag and a hitch and jackhandle with road rash

i have to say it was bad weekend in tunica
Thursday we hunt and my friend gets the belt wet on his grizzly so we have tow it in. Drain the water out and its good to go
Friday I fall and ruin my phone ( still waiting to hear duck doctors story on his phone from friday)

and last but not least
we were picking up decoys saturday and we drowned out my 4 wheeler leaving the four us stranded. I knew a guy with a agro was hunting not far from us. So I wip out my new crackberry and call some guys at the club house and they call the guy with the argo. He gets ready to head out of the hole he is hunting and sinks his argo. So some guys come down and pull my 4 wheeler out and two of us out. Two guys are still stuck in the blind so the guy gets his argo pumped out and says he will get them out of the blind (one of the guys is 60, 6'6" 350 lbs with a bad hip and back) After picking them up he proceeds to drive across the field in the gumbo instead of following the water out. He balls up the tires and it quits pulling. When it is all said and done we have to pull out the argo and another 4 wheeler.

but i managed to not to rob or steal from anyone so I guees it was not a total loss this weekend
