Which prefab duck boat?

Postby ScottS » Wed Jul 11, 2001 1:29 pm

Guys,

It looks like the 2002 price increase from XPress is what is killing any "moderately priced" pkg deals these days. I've spoken to several dealerships (3 of them), including Mike Hale (Hale's in Hattiesburg) and they are all telling me the same thing...I waited about 2-3 weeks too late. Anyway, the price I am getting quoted for an XPress 1650 Duck Boat, console steering, 40 hp merc and trailer (no blind included) is averaging $7500 - $8000. Again, this is for the 2002 model which is all you can order. The Beavertail blind can be bought directly from Beavertail for $599.00 (I've communicated with the owner of that company and he's super nice!) and the dealerships charge about $795 for it.

I will keep shopping and trying to make a decision on a boat. I sincerely appreciate the way each of you have stepped up and offered some damn good advice and suggestions.

I guess, if anything, I'm glad I started my search now instead of waiting until October!

Thanks -

I got my beavertail direct, and paid about $600, do that jives with my experiance. I would start calling Xpress dealers and seeing if they have any 2001 models they would like to deal on.

Weld-built boats out of Arkansas.
He custom builds boats too.
I can't remember his number or where he is from. go to www.duckcentral.com and go to arkansas forum. Someone might know how to get in touch w/ him.

www.weldbilt.com, has everyhting you need to know along w/ a catalog w/ adobe reader. I would still check gator trax out if it were me, they are really nice boats and not overly expensive. I think they are the way to go.
