If you notice above the speculum it has gadwall colors (brown)... and the plumage looks gaddy but the actual speculum looks pintail and the tail... bill black on top and head had brown stripe on top also... whatever it is ,it's in the freezer

Get em WET!............Their feet that is.
Re: Brewers Duck or Madwall?????
Maybe it was a threesome.

Definitely not a pintail mallard...The bill on a pin is dominant and that is not a pintail bill...I would say MADWALL

It has a sprig too, any chance of a threesome? haha
Re: Brewers Duck or Madwall?????
Upon closer inspection, the stripe down the bill is very pintail-like, as are the pin feathers in the tail.
The speculum does have the reddish coloration that the drake gadwall has, but the green feathers look pintailish.
I would say the feathers on the back near the front look really like gadwall feathers.
Interesting bird to say the least.

I just don't see the pintail in that bird, I see the little sprig on the tail but thats bout it, and if you straightened out a mallards curls they'd be bout that long...I think madwall.......but it would be going on the wall fo sho......

Cool. I'd call it a Tiger Woods duck. I'm surprised you caught him--must have had a torn ACL

hunt the front
