You know your old school when you know you can replace the shear pin in your johnson 25 sea horse with a pin out of your old 870.

That reminds me of a few years ago when I got this 12 jon boat at a garage sale for the boy child. I thought it would make a good summer project. First we replaced the transom and fixed some leaks. Then we sanded her down and gave her some new paint. She was starting to come together at this point so I went to Wally World and purchased some seats and a small trolling motor. She was perfect for our little ponds and Stone was proud. Soon after he wanted to try her out on some "big" water and I didn't mind since I got to do some fishin'. Well we took her down to Wild Briar Lake and set off. We worked our way around the lake and catching some nice bass, then it happened :D . The prop got caught in some moss, so he lifts the motor out to unclog it. After he had removed most of the moss from the prop he turned it on to sling the rest off (note to self: do not try this at home). When he did that the matted moss held the prop in place and backed the nut off  and "plop" went the prop and the nut into the water. Thank goodness the prop was made of plastic because it floated just long enough for him to grab it! The shear pin was held in place by the moss but nut was gone. That's when survival mode kicked in  I found a cork from the tackle box and screwed it on and sure enough it held. We eased back to the landing safe and sound. The cork actually lasted the rest of the summer til my cheap booty bought another screw :D .

Hunting coat was a OD green field jacket with two boxes of lead shot in the pockets, hunting the Weir field below Double Cypress.

I had one in bike riding distance from my house. I use to buy wooden arrows for my 20lb fiberglass bow, bb's and fishing lures there. Every once in a while I will run across something with the pink Gibson price tag on it. Things sure were cheap then :D

I remember when the one in Clarksdale (within bicycle riding distance of my house too) went out of business. A sad day for the outdoorsman in me. :( Bought my first pair of hip boots there. (Yes, they were uninsulated, green, with the yellow band at the top.)
