I got drawn for one of the hunts there and know nothing about it...
Anyone familiar with the area?
What should I expect boat, waders, pit blinds? help me out..

Steelshot, I got drawn for a hunt there as well. From what I know, the place used to be an old catfish farm. Primary means of transportation will be your feet. Don't know anything about pit blinds but I seriously doubt it. Boats are probably out of the question as well. Waders probably wouldn't be a bad thing to have. Water depth could be varible depending on the hunting unit that you draw when you check in.

I hunted muscadine farms a couple of years ago. There were no pits and I doubt there are any now. As far as transportation, the walk from the vehicle to the holes is not bad at all. I would suggest waders, not everyone needed them when I was there, just setting dekes is where it was nesaccary. It is just old catfish ponds and the one we were on had alot of brush in it. There were a good number of birds (2 years ago) but we did not have a good hunt.
Things may have changed I am not sure.

I haven't checked my mail to see if I got drawn, but I know for a fact that I will be going on at least 2 hunts up there. I heard that MF was trying to get some golf carts donated for use. Either way, the walk should be easy being that it's gravel road. I think they have roller carts to haul decoys and stuff.
Hotty toddy, were the groups spaced out enough to where you weren't calling each others' ducks too badly? Howbig of a spread did y'all put out?

Does anyone know if all the drawings are done and sent out? Just wondering if I was lucky or not. Sure hope everyone has a great and safe opener. Please post ducks seen, killed, conditions, etc.(and no, I don't want your spot general area would be nice). I will be out there all three days. Just hoping our bliind touch ups that me and bluwtr made are holding through all this wind. Probably get there early just in case a few final touches need to be done. Good luck to everyone!!
On the contrary....I've seen mallard, widgeon, teal, gadwall, pintail, specks, snows and Canadas on old fishponds.
This photo was after a fishpond hunt. A fishpond that was nothing but water, on top of that:
When it's nothing but water, you will get mostly divers. I never have seen a man pass up a Canvasback.
But when they've gone back to their natural state, you get excellent duck habitat. The most pintail I ever saw was in a smartweed/coffeeweed field. I kid you not, no less than 500 sprigs funneled over me, pooping all the way.

I got drawn, can anybody give me good directions from Jackson?
I got drawn too. Have no idea of how to get there. I am coming from the coast. Some directions would be greatly appreciated. I am not going until the 22nd of Jan(made sure to put in late to be sure ducks would be there). Did any of yall on here go this weekend to Muscadine? If so, how did ya do? Just wondering what kinda ducks ya got?
Muscadine Farms directions
Turn left off Hwy61 about 5 miles north of Hollandale on Avon-Darlove road. Go approximately six miles west, cross Douglas Road, and go about
another quarter mile east to the intersection of Avon-Darlove and Muscadine Road. Check in at the shop at the intersection.
OR
Take Hwy 12 west out of Hollandale. Go approximately 2 miles west of the Leroy Percy Park entrance to Douglas Road. Go north on Douglas
approximately 5 miles to Stop sign at Avon-Darlove Road. Go west on
Avon- Darlove approximately a quarter mile to the check in shop.
I prefer the latter.
They were doing some shooting in there Satuday and we've been seeing many geese and some ducks recently on the ponds by the road.
We killed 32 ducks (mallards, gads, and teal) this weekend on lease about a mile from Muscadine
