For those with a BlackBerry?

Postby Woodduckdawg » Sun Dec 14, 2008 1:28 pm

Is the initial price worth it for having a BlackBerry and getting the data plans to use one?

I'm with Cellular South so no IPhone for the moment.

I'm with at&t and i like the phone. I have the unlimited plan and its a lot more than i want to spend but with a smaller plan it would cost as much in overages.

Cell south here. I bought the pearl this summer for 200. I've enjoyed mine. The blackberry plan is 49.99. This includes unlimited data, text. 700 anytime minutes plus all calls to cell south customers are not minutes used.

If you do any type of email this phone is for you. The data is fun to use. I'm replying to this message from mine. Love it.

Cellular South has by far the best plan and better coverages in MS than anyone! Piss on AT&T that's about the sorriest excuse for a phone service as it gets! I just spent nearly 30 hrs on the phone with them over the last 8 days just trying to get my internet working right. I've had problems with my system since JUNE. If they would spen just a fraction of the time trying to solve your problem instead of trying to tell you why they can't it would be a whole hell of a lot better! I wish I had a choice on my home phone stuff but I don't they are the only game in my town. I hate dem sombeeches!

I really wanted an iPhone. But after looking at the AT&T calling plans, I decided to stay with Cellular South and got the Blackberry Curve. It's a great, full featured phone and the plan prices are waaaay less than AT$T. Blackberry has 2 or 3 touch screen phones now being rolled out. CS should be able to offer one in about 6 months. For tower quality and plan price, you cannot beat Cellelar South.

I'm basically talkig about the $300 sticker price for a phone itself.

I know the Pearl is a free offer for the time being and I know Cellular South will sweeten that deal soon as well. My main concern is forking over the first cost of the phone.

Cellular South will soon come out with the "Sky Golf" type application to use GPS at golf courses to calculate distances from the flag and such for those curious golfers out there.

I know I need to be better organized and able to document items in the future, and I was curious if one of these phones might be able to help in the long run.

Do they actually take the place of a Palm Hand held computer application?

I just got a Obama-berry at C-south this week. If you sign a new 2 year contract with voice and data(data only required for 1 year), you can get an Obama-berry for free. Price per month is $49.99 for 500 minutes, unlimited web, mobile to mobile, text. Phone is very easy for me to use and I've only been texting for about two months, especially since I know where the keys are on a keyboard.

My opinion is that it is worth it.

I lost my pearl a few weeks ago on a rabbit hunting trip. :(

I just went to the AT&T place and had them activate my blackberry plan, and the turn it right back off.
That way all your media stuff works. Doesn't cost anything. They wanted to charge you $40 a month for
a blackberry package just so you could get media files and what not. I talked them out of that and had them
activate mine and then turn it back off. It will let you have all the media access without the montly package.

I got the huckleberry curve a few months ago and yes they are high but they are great to have especially if several of your friends have them so you can Blackberry Messege them. As far as Cellular South they are THE $#!+ a friend of mine has Verizon and has had phone bills that were one and a half times as much as my truck note for an 05 GMC!!!

I followed the advice of this board and got my wife a Curve a few weeks back. Changed the contract from Verizon to Cellular South....no regrets thus far.
