I had them in an apt down in the N.O. I liked them alot. You cant mess them up at all like you can some of the other stones. The ones I had were just the regular grey with some sort of finish, but no color. I am not sure on the cost, but i imagine they werent an arm and a leg b/c they were in an apartment. two thumbs up!

Re: Concrete countertops?
Never had them but have seen them...I really like them and they look indestructible. I've even seen them stained with broken pieces of colored glass in the mix and then a finish on it. It was very sharp.

Re: Concrete countertops?
I bouhgt a book on how to make them by the guy that was the guru of concrete counterrtops. At the time I was doing tile work and thought this was going to be the next big thing. But it never took off. Personally I love them because of the flexibility of design, indestructable, cost effectiveness.

I have them in my house. We love them. They are very durable, easy to keep clean, and have a very high end look if they are installed correctly. You can also have sinks, fireplace surrounds, and stand-up shower stalls done out of concrete. Very versatile.
Re: Concrete countertops?
My parents used these in their house in Greenville when they updated their kitchen. They used Steve Mitchell, who is one of the best. He has done some things at my parents house that are truly amazing. They love the concrete countertops because they are something different from granite, and they are very durable and they look very upscale. Hope this helps.

Re: Concrete countertops?
I've seen them in a few newly done houses in Cleveland. They seem to look good........they polish it. I'm just wondering how durable they are as far as things settling and it cracking/chipping etc.

Re: Concrete countertops?
concrete cracks and chips due to weight load, that shouldn't be an issue. I have seen em in a few homes and they looked great. If, thats a big if, I replace my countertops it will be with concrete!
Re: Concrete countertops?
Well, even if it cracks and falls apart, you can always use it as a weight to keep the old lady from floating up in the river.

Re: Concrete countertops?
My brother in law and I made some for his house. It took us a long time but we did it right. From what I can tell right now his will never crack and are great looking. You can order all the stuff to do it off the internet and its really not that hard. I think the mix is neo mix and you need to use a high grade, high impact concrete.

Re: Concrete countertops?
Thanks everyone, seems like everybody has positive things to say about them. I guess I'll be looking into them further. (After deer and duck season of course!
