One proud dad today. My son has really taken to duck hunting and I am really enjoying being able to watch him grow into a young man. However he did get to witness a couple of unethical hunters today. We were hunting a local WMA and a couple of guys that were the third boat in the water pulled out ahead of everyone and left the landing 15 minutes ahead of time. This left him asking why would someone do that? I explained that you will always have people that break the rules, but we hold ourselves accountable to these rules. There were 5 other boats at the ramp and we all waited until time to leave. These guys went about 300 yards from where we setup and did not shoot but twice." I guess you get what you deserve holds true here. "

Man are you crazy or what? Do you realize what you've done? I started taking mine to the woods when he was 2. He started duck hunting with me at 5. Now I can't go without him. He makes me feel guilty if I go when he can't. It's like having a partner that just won't quit. But the problem is I've got to clothe, feed, and supply this partner. He's 11 now and it's getting worse. I'm wanting to head out to Arkis this weekend and he's telling me he'll be alright if I go and he has to stay, he said he won't hold it against me. I'm telling you you've started something now and your the only one to blame.
Congrats to the both of you. Did you hoot and hollar louder than he did? I know I did when mine shot his first.
Yea, I know I started something. I couldn't think of anything better to start though!!! He used to be into video games and he might hunt with me twice a year, but it's in his blood now. I let him skip school one day last week while I was on vacation to go, but he worked ahead and took his tests early, so if he loves it enough to finish his schoolwork I'll take the hit on financeing him!

Yep my 5 year old has been going since he was 2. Boy cries when he can't go now.(to deep water to stand that sort of thing) Man that'll make you feel like crap.
I made mine wait until they were 11 or 12 before they could go regularly. I ended up outfitting three of them...like to have broke me..they're 21, 19, and 17 now and good partners. What a good time we've had!
