Do you coat the whole reed in this stuff?

The bottom of the working reed. The bottom is the part that sticks to the tone board.

I bought a RNT for that reason. I used cheaper calls the first couple of go-rounds. Broke down and bought a nicer one. Havn't had that problem since

Anybody had any certain brand of call stick more than another? I have a flextone double reed that will stick everytime. Just started blowing an Echo call and it has done pretty well. Also have a Haydel's Dirty Rice and it has never stuck once! Just wondering what everybody else has experienced?

If this occurs during your hunt and you have no options, simply pull a dollar bill out and slide it between the toneboard and the reed itself. Currency is made of cotton and linen and has the ability to absorb moisture. Pulling reeds to coat with chapstick, etc. and re-setting, re-tuning can be a bit tricky to get optimal sound.
Son, be sure to check the oil. The gas will take care of itself. George Carter - Circa 1965
