labrador breeders?

Postby Duck Sniper » Thu Nov 13, 2003 9:16 pm

I am interested in purchasing a new lab in a few months. Seeing as though I can get an honest (I think) answer from some of you guys (or gals) that have purchased from good breeders, please give info on top-of-the-line breeders! thanks in advance!

Lab pup

The breeder that I found is Rob Elliott in Ripley, MS! His kennel is Wildwood. I purchased a black male from him in April and this little fella is awesome! He is a high-strung retriever, but will curl up beside you... and he is only 9 mo. He has a great disposition. WARNING- Avoid Wildrose Kennels in Oxford. I have personally had a bad experience with them and have since talked to several others that had the same problem! Rob's web site is http:\\www.wildwoodkennels.com Take a look and go see some of his dogs work!

There's a kennel near Weir, MS called Choctaw Kennels. The guy's name is Bobby Martin, 662-547-9927.

My brother just recently purchased two labs from Choctaw, he and his wife seemed very happy.

Regardless of bolivarducks opinion, Wildrose is one of the finest kennels in the U.S. I have purchased two labs from them and have talked with dozens of others that are very happy with their Wildrose labs and their dealings with the kennel. With so many repeat customers, they must be doing something right.

I am not sure how far you are willing to travel, but there is a good breeder in Ponototoc,MS at Shadowlawn Kennels (Evonne Skeen) and also yo umight want to get in touch with Scot Marcin with Delta Dreams, If he does not have any pups he usually knows who has the best litters available.

Sniper-

Randy Papa has some GREAT dogs in Helana,AR. He had some pups not long ago, but I'm not sure if he has any left. They are off his dog Black River Promise (HRCH). They are some really nice pups.

If they turn out half as good a Promise is, they will make some really nice hunting partners!

PM me if any other questions

I thik a recomendation will depend on how much you want to spend and how far you are willing to travel to get the pup. you may even want to consider have the puppy shipped to you. What is it that you want out of your new dog?

for example do you want an HRCH dog?
Do you want a filed trial dog?
Do you want a AKC Hunt Test Dog?

what you want out of the dog determines what arena to shop in first. Then a solid breeder can be recomended from there.

You may also want to check out http://www.working-retriever.com/ and look in their calssified section for pups for sale. These are ads posted by some the top breeders in the nation.

Always check refrences and health gurantees.

Good Luck in your search!
