NUTMEG wrote:MSHUNTER - I think you are right and Auburn is on the way down after this. Since Auburn forced him out, the no compete clause goes out the window. He is saying he is staying in Auburn but once he collects his first $3 million of his buyout he will be announced as State's head coach. That could come as early as Monday.

snake in the grass.....
just my two cents though....
love the fact that many in louisville still think he is god.

Sure we got rolled in the Iron Bowl, but it wouldn’t matter if it was Shula, Saban, or the byar himself who beat us. We need some changes to be made at Auburn and Tubs would not let go of any of his assistants, so therein lies the problem. Tubs has been with the BBQ boys since Ole Miss and he refuses to let them walk the plank. You can say that is admirable, but when you have internal problems because of it I see it as a cancer that has eaten away at our football program.
Was Tony Franklin as mistake….probably so, but he did not have the support that he needed to be successful at Auburn. I was never sold on the spread. I think it was a great recruiting tool that went extremely sour. Auburn did not have the players in place to run such an offense. We have tons of talent, but not the type of players to run that style of offense at this stage of the game.
I have heard all kinds of rumors about players being allowed to run wild with no consequence, infidelity within the Tuberville family, racial issues within the football program and countless other on the field issues. I personally think that some of this big money and fame that he has received in the coaching world has gone to his head. As a result Auburn had an air of lackadaisicalness within the program as a whole and lost control of the program and players.
Do I think it was a good idea to fire Tubs and call assistant coaches while on recruiting visits to let them know of their new job status….? Heck no, but that is what you get when you have a Puppet as the AD and Board Members with a chip on their shoulder running the show.
