technically he resigned so the compete clause would still hold up correct

He resigned with a mutual agreement. If he just walked in and resigned, Auburn would not owe him the $6 million Buyout. He will receive $3 million now and $3 million in a year if he doesn't have a job then. He also could take and year off so as to collect the second $3 million.

Letting Tubby go will be a big mistake and was a kneejerk reaction by Auburn in my opinion. It is very arguable that he is the third best coach in the SEC behind Saban and Meyer. As a matter of fact, he is one of the few coaches that has a winning record against Saban.

He is a piece of crap and I have never had respect for him as a man, but as a coach he is one of the best.

I remember him almost being fired in 2003 only to go undefeated the next year.

I am not an Auburn fan and do not keep up with them to the extent to know why they wanted him gone, but one bad season and a loss to Bama after 6 wins in a row seems odd.

I don't know that Leech from TT is an improvement as he is not a great recruiter and that is the name of the game in the SEC. They better throw the bank at Butch Davis because otherwise, Saban will own the state of Alabama for as long as he wants.

Les Miles in the dean of SEC West coaches. His first season was 2005. You earn your keep as an SEC coach.

Not gonna happen! If CTT sits out a year, he gets 3M. Even though MSU says they are prepaired to pay 3M for him, I don't see it happening. I say CTT sits out a year.
Nothing against MSU, but why would he leave AU to come to MSU? WHY? Where he would be be coaching against the same SEC West div. schools. It just doesn't pass the smell test.

From what I am hearing, Tubberville is 3rd on MSU's list. Peterson from Boise is number one, he originally was hoping to get the Oregon job but they have named a head coach in waiting or someting. Second is the head coach from Tulsa and then TT coming in at third.

That is asinine to think that Saban had anything to do with the firing of any coach. That is just the egotistical alerbamer fan coming out in those with that opinion. Sure we got rolled in the Iron Bowl, but it wouldn’t matter if it was Shula, Saban, or the byar himself who beat us. We need some changes to be made at Auburn and Tubs would not let go of any of his assistants, so therein lies the problem. Tubs has been with the BBQ boys since Ole Miss and he refuses to let them walk the plank. You can say that is admirable, but when you have internal problems because of it I see it as a cancer that has eaten away at our football program.

Was Tony Franklin as mistake….probably so, but he did not have the support that he needed to be successful at Auburn. I was never sold on the spread. I think it was a great recruiting tool that went extremely sour. Auburn did not have the players in place to run such an offense. We have tons of talent, but not the type of players to run that style of offense at this stage of the game.

I have heard all kinds of rumors about players being allowed to run wild with no consequence, infidelity within the Tuberville family, racial issues within the football program and countless other on the field issues. I personally think that some of this big money and fame that he has received in the coaching world has gone to his head. As a result Auburn had an air of lackadaisicalness within the program as a whole and lost control of the program and players.

Do I think it was a good idea to fire Tubs and call assistant coaches while on recruiting visits to let them know of their new job status….? Heck no, but that is what you get when you have a Puppet as the AD and Board Members with a chip on their shoulder running the show.

It's a four page thread and i don't see ANYONE, ANYWHERE saying that, dipshart.

There is no "we." You went to Sewannee.

Sweet blog, though. It's ok to cry.

Spin it all you want, but your adopted program just got set back 10 years. It's quite amusing and so are you.

Big money boosters run the Auburn football program and Tubby was tired of it. He has had people questioning his job for years now and he has had enough. That is why he left. He didnt leave to go to State but would love the opportunity to prove to Auburn that he is a good coach.

Does anyone know where the new President of Ms. State is from?

It has been said on this board, so I was addressing any and all comments in the wake of this situation, webster.

What is really assinine to think that you know anything about me. You are just some dork on a computer in a tiny cubicle somewhere in alerbamer with a framed picture of Saban on the desk that gets your shorts stiff and ready to spew you bammer schite all over a duck hunting board.
Get a life.
