We had 20 mallards pile in the timber this morning they landed about 10 yards away. Never saw us and then all hell broke loose on them.. 5 greenheads did not make it out. The same thing happened again with 4 and 3 greenheads stayed with us also. It was only 2 groups but it was 2 limits.... Thats what I like about timber hunting up close and personal...

I must agree, a good flooded timber hunt is hard to beat. I would rather shoot a few mallards in the timber than go shoot teal and shovelers in the fields. Something about ducks coming through the trees.

Flooded pines? You gotsta get up in the hard woods or cypress trees.

Or atleast my experiences have indicated that hard woods or cypress trees are best

i think you should throw out just enough decoys to fill in areas where you dont want ducks to land, dont take but about a dozen and give a hail call here and there and feeder call a good bit. also its a good idea to take a mojo duck so the ducks can spot movement and keep the water stired up.

once you get a nice volley down in some timber just point and shoot....its like they are in slow motion tryin to get out of there
