MAN O MAN

Postby RIPPY » Wed Nov 26, 2008 8:22 pm

Well rushed home to take my son hunting this afternoon a couple of guys that work for me wanted some deer meat. Well we get everything (almost) packed up and head out we get there and get ready. My son didnt have any orange so I tell him to wear mine. We head down the field and dang I left my binos in the truck so we turned around and walk back to the truck (about 30yrds) and I get them and we turn and there is the gamewarden he asks for my hunting license and I give it to him he went to his truck and I looked in the tool box of my truck for some orange none there.Well I walked over to his truck and to my suprise he had started filling out a ticket I said you giving me a ticket? He said yes sir you dont have any orange on. So I said you got to be kidding me he said no sir its the law and my job is to uphold the law. Well then I get alittle angry and said cut the small talk and write the damn ticket already he replies well now you going to jail for cursing me im like I didnt curse you he said yes you did. Long story short I didnt go to jail but did get a ticket for no orange. I cant catch a break with MR GREEN JEANS... :( :(

JUST RANTING...

Sorry, I don't see why you are mad. You admittedly didn't have your orange, walked away from the truck, and only returned when you realized you forgot something. You had already made the decision to hunt without the orange and then set a good example for your son by giving the officer a hard time.

Maybe I'm missing something?

HUNTING DEER
All deer hunters must wear, in full view, a minimum of 500 square inches of solid unbroken continuous daylight fluorescent hunter orange material during open gun seasons on deer.

rice, we killed a few woodies and saw about 20 big ducks but they went down about 200yrds from us..

I think the thing to have done was for him to say hey DA go home or to the store and get some orange and come back and hunt.

He told us if you have the means of taking deer you have to have on orange during deer season. Being I was with a child I had the means he said. But what is funny to me if I want to go walking in the woods looking for whatever during deer season I dont have to have orange on. Its kinda like the baiting law, Dont feed the deer beacuse they will spread disease but its sure funny they eat out of the same greenfield drink the same water breed the same does lick the same limbs and bed in the same areas. Just dont make sence to me.

Nope, definitely not perfect.

As I said, I'm sure I'm missing something here and there are mitigating circumstances that would explain why you don't have to wear orange and shouldn't get a ticket.

I'm a simpleton and just haven't figured it out yet. I"m sure somebody will come along shortly and tell me what I'm missing.

Maybe Wingman can help me out. Hey Wiggie, you out there??? Help me out with this one. I had to much turkey yesterday and my brain just ain't working to great today.

there is a place that i hunt that is not my familys land and we sometimes do not wear hunter orange but most of the time we do. the game warden does not dear to come near the land cause the guy told him if he stuck that fake moving decoy on the land he was going to round up everyone and so we can shoot it

I sort of see both sides. RIPPY, had the game warden suggested you run home or to the store and get orange, would you? That beind said, it would take a GW to make you go get your orange. As Seymore said, you said it yourself that you didn't have orange and gave it to your son. Then yall proceeded to walk into the woods to go hunting. You accepted liability for your actions by walking into the woods with no orange on. I went into the woods scouting a couple ponds two weeks ago. I didn't have my shotgun with me, but I made sure I had my orange vest on. It's SAFETY to wear it. No deer, no matter who is asking for meat, is worth being mistaken for an animal and getting shot and possibly killed.

That's like me going fishing and go out without any life jackets. Then get stopped, while on the water, and argue with the GW for wanting to write me a ticket.

Now I know if your deer hunting with a child or deer hunting in general your suppose to wear orange because your participating in the hunt...but Rippy does make a point about wearing orange when you in the woods duck hunting or better yet squirrel hunting or rabbit Which we usually wear orange rabbit hunting but you dont have to, but in your hands is the means to kill a deer..Whos to say??? Just food for thought any answers

Wow, i wouldnt go as far to say the young GW's are going to take our hunting rights away. maybe the COMMISSIONERS
who have never hunted a day on public land, but definatly not the game wardens.
