Went by Malmaison at about 5:30 p.m., and there were about 25 trucks and boats already lined up....talked to a few, and they said they were sleeping in their trucks, since no camping was allowed.

not a draw for in state guys but some kind of limit on the OOS, maybe a draw for them like Iowa does for out of state deer hunters(just one example among many, that a State protects its resource). maybe limit the amount of access of OOS;say allow through first half the season then no OOS through the end. So no Im not talking draws for the in State guys Im talking a way to reduce hunters.. by tackling out of state pressure first.

Every public place is crowded on opening day, regardless of the state. Weekends are crowded at any public place in MS, be it a WMA, NWR, or public waterway. To me its just like gun control laws and what not. They start limiting this, limiting that, tweaking things here and there...and the next thing you know our gun rights have been taken away! The same could happen to our public ground in MS if we arent careful.

Talk to people from Missouri, they used to complain about places they hunt up that way being overcrowded and people skybusting and setting up right on top of them, etc. Now they are lucky to get drawn in places they used to have unlimited access to! Id rather sit in a duck blind watching ducks fly over with some topwater who creeped in on me at daylight and set up 50 yards upwind of me blowing his RNT MVP , than to not get drawn for a hunt and be sitting at the house with my thumb up my booty.

I respect your response, but I dont feel comparing the rights of gun ownership as the same as duck hunting is an apple to apple comparrison within this disussion. Like I said, other states successful protect their resources for their citizens. I also just call for tighter restrictions on State mgt areas, not the aforementioned. Believe me, I am for deregulation as much as anyone, its just that when I read about the crowds, the sky busting, the safety issues and out of staters lining up, I just dont want to fight it!!!. I want my state to protect me. I'm not saying Im right, your wrong; Im just simple stating my opinion!!! :) and yes I do agree that it would be hard to trust the State to fix the problem correctly, rather than going to a draw for everyone!! I repeat Im not for a draw for Mississippians or Native Sons of Mississippi!!

I know the draw is most hunters worst nightmare, simply because they might not get drawn.

I just came back from a Missouri Conservation Area, which happened to be a draw. Very organized and efficient. 5301 acres are divided up into 9 "pools". Each pool will allow only a certain number of 4-person parties per pool depending on size, huntable water and feed. What I am getting to is that if you manage and keep it very organized, it can be a great place to hunt instead of fighting for your own air. my 0.0002

We pulled up to ramp this morning just to see that a group of guys had hauled a camper down and parked it in the lot. 5 trucks parked at the camper. Public land.

Needless to say, they beat us to the spot.

We also almost killed some guys this morning who weren't running lights on the boat. Bout ran right into the back of them at full speed.

I think only people with first names beginning with the letters E-K should be able to hunt public land.
