Another GPS Question

Postby MSDawg870 » Thu Nov 27, 2008 6:44 pm

Looking for a unit with computer software that I can plot points in the field with and then upload onto my PC.

Dick's is advertising the Garmin Venture HC with a TOPO U.S. 2008 disc for $100.

Would that work or am I looking at spending more $$$?

Thanks

The Venture should work for moving saved points to computer mapping software. Might depend on the software. I was able to upload waypoints and tracks from my old Legend as well as my newer Vista HCx. I have found they work with Garmin's software and Delorme. I've also been able to plan routes on my laptop and downlaod them into the GPS.

I don't post much on here, but I do have some input on this subject :D :D

I bought the Garmin so I could plot and save tracks and maps, came highly recomended from store clerk

After setting it up and not being able to download maps I had bought online, i started the customer service route :? :?

After being told by two different customer service reps that the problem was with the other company software and they could (or would) not help me :!:

I took the d$mn thing back and bought a $150 Bushnell and it works :!: :!:

Always carry a compass just in case :?: :!: :!:
