Browning GOld Question

Postby Hayes » Wed Nov 26, 2008 12:37 pm

Need some help fast if possible.

My browing gold acted up last duck season and this dove season.

WHen I take it out each hunt it chambers and shucks the hulls perfect. Later into the hunts it will not eject the hulls consistantly nor will it bring the new round into the chamber. What could be the problem?

I bring the gun home and break it all the way down after each hunt and clean it thoroughly. Same things happens next hunt. It works like a charm at first and on into the hunt it does not make the exchange and my action gets real slow. Even if I empty the gun and leave the action open when i put the first shell in it is supposed to sling it in the chamber and have a fast action. Well when I try to do that later in the hunt it will not hardly throw the shell in the chamber. any help would be appreciated.

Does it do that with high brass shells?

try and take the butt stock off (2 screws) remove the nut and then a small pin and clean the spring and rod, be careful when you remove that pin it is spring loaded and can be dangerous if not careful. I had the same problem and bout the sure cycle and have not any problems since.

Quackers is correct, Take the stock off and clean the spring and tube the spring goes into, This should speed your action up. Clean it real good even with fine steel wool if nec.

I have had one since they came out and it happens every once in a while.

I take a 12 inch section of coat hanger bend about 1 in over flat and slide a 1in by 2in piece of 600 grit wet sandable paper in it spray it and the inside of the spring tube with wd40 attach it to a drill and hone the inside of the tube real good then clean and lube with a heaver oil I have had to do this to several models with the spring in the stock it seems to work well burnt powder and dirt get in this tube real easy and after a year or two it starts hanging

I had issues with mine hanging up..I took it to a gunsmith and he determained I had gotten water in my stock..he said its quite common for duckhunters to do this..anyway he cleaned it and it works fine now as long as I keep that piston clean..
