Texas Rigged Decoys with Weedeater line......(pics)

Postby Damn_It_Boy » Tue Nov 25, 2008 6:21 pm

Just got done rerigging 3 doz. decoys.........takes a little time, but looks like it will be worth it. Not sure how long the weedeater line will hold up, but it rigs up nicely. Notice on the teal dekes I used a much smaller weight. (Note: I went to 3 different places today to try and find some 250# fishing leader line, no go.......)

I have heard that the weedeater line works great. Now you need a whole lot more DIBs

Way I look at it, I ain't tossing out and picking up more that 3 dozen. Huntin' partners better be packin' as well. I know this system will go out and in faster than the old, so I will therefore probably toss out all of them versus just 1 doz. Cool rig, and after seeing yours last year reb, that's part of the reason I did them.

Guy I hunted with got the idea to Texas rig 3 dozen decoys. He must have done something wrong 'cause when he threw them at o dark thirty he ended up with a big booty knot. Sat on a stool for 30 minute cussing and picking them apart. He went home and rigged them all the usual way after that.

I've seen it on TV and it sure looks like it's a lot easier and quicker.

As long as you use something stiff like weedeater line or 300#mono they won't tangle up. I usually put out 10 dozen with 3 people and it does not take more than ten minutes to pick them up

I'm going on 3 years with the weedeater string- no problems yet. I ran about 4 foot lengths on mine.

It works like a charm, you will like it DIB. I have all my decoys either stringed like that or with ACE anchors. As much as I like ACE, I think the texas style is not only cheaper, but easier and faster. Esp. if you have to move during a hunt.
