Neshoba County Lake Questions

Postby bluwtr » Mon Nov 17, 2008 1:43 pm

I drew Neshoba County Lake for January 21st. Can anyone give me some information about it? I found it on several maps, but I can't tell much about it. Do you have to use a boat? How deep is it? What's the best way to hunt it? etc. I drew unit 1 which is the north end.

Thanks in advance.

I know, but living in Gautier with three kids etc. makes it tough to run up to Neshoba and fart around scouting for birds. I'm looking for advice from others who have hunted there before. One of the reasons I don't come to this sight near as much as I used to is just for that reason. It seems that the postings became much more hostile, full of clique's and no one wanted to offer help/ advice to other members.

I had never even heard of the place, let alone hearing of anyone hunting there. It was all I could do to even find it on a map.

Honestly, if you don't have time to scout it before you hunt it, and don't want to go if you can't find out any info on it, they why would you put in for the hunt? I see you've been on here since 2001, you ought to know how ask those questions.

Could someone who has hunted the area he's talking bout, PM him and let him know whats up with that unit :?

All you've done now is let everyone know that there are Draw hunts on that lake and now it's going to be tougher and tougher to get a permit. Look at the current draw hunts, it's hard as hell to get drawn for them now cause SOOO many people are putting in for the draws, cause they look on places like this and see they can and find out how. I used to get drawn for every place, every year, this year I got ONE PLACE!!!, ONE!!!! and Skeeter who always gets drawn as well, GOT NONE!!!! REST MY CASE :!: :? :?

I agree with pntailhntr. Thanks to the information age we live in more and more people are putting in for the draws. Each additional entry besides the one you yourself put in decreases your chances of being drawn. Why put in for a draw where if you win it you are going to ask someone where to go and what to do. Part of the hunt itself is scounting and footwork. If you don't have time to go scout then how would you have time to hunt. Do not get me wrong I have no problem with people putting in for draws; I just don't want anyone wasting my chance of getting drawn. So if your going to put in for a drawn, then please be willing to take full advantage of the opportunity in itself.

P.S. If the words Neshoba County Lake are not enough for you...Yes you will need a boat. I hunted there last year thats all I am saying and Good Luck.

:x :x You know your responses are one of the reasons I rarely come to this message board any more. People throw a friggin fit when someone asks a question. Did I EVER say "give me all of your secrets so I can hunt this place"? NO I DIDN'T! All I'm asking for is simple information. I don't know what your life is like but I have one hell of a hectic schedule and I don't have the time to haul ass up to Neshoba county from the coast to scout the area. Maybe you do but not me. I hunt seldom enough as it is now. I am SOOOO sorry if you only got drawn for one hunt. Why don't you go to the MDWFP website and look at the stats on entries and numbers drawn.

Let's think about this a moment. If you want to come down and hunt the Pascagoula River WMA and aren't able to scout, would you NOT ask general questions? Guess what? There are tons of places on the RIVER that you don't have to have a boat to hunt.

So get off of it. What ever happened to people just being generally helpful and nice?!?!

UUMMMM, I wouln't put in for the hunt in the first place, and NO I would not ask on this forum, because I know what would happen, and I wouln't want to put it out there that Neshoba Lake has a draw hunt either.

Whatever. I put in to hunt so that I could try a different area. I didn't notice where you live, but we sure as heck don't have the number of birds down here like the delta does so why wouldn't I put in to hunt other spots? The point is that you have to ask for help sometimes and that is all I was doing.

As far as me telling everyone that Neshoba is another place to hunt makes no sense because it's on the MDWFP website. If you don't like people knowing it's a hunting site gripe to Jackson--not me.

If you want to know something about spots here in the Delta, other than mine of course, don't hesitate to PM me and I'll be glad to tell you what I know. Look at where people are from, get to know people on here and they will be glad to help you out THROUGH PM. Just a little info for you though, There aint no ducks in Neshoba that don't squeal!! maybe an occasional one or two, but for the most part, woodrow has the neighborhood locked up. :)

Or call me, I'll be glad to take you sometime!!

what he is saying is this- You have been around for a while. We know you are not some yahoo coming on the board to stir crap up. Just post the question, anyone hunted neshoba. PM me please I have a question. Look at all the "great white duck hunters" that sign up on this board right before duck season. All of them read your post and called there friends and said, next year we need to put in for the draw at Neshoba. Next year, you and other "real" hunters are left out, while some sky busting, robo duck having, high balling, over the limit killing idiots are hunting where you could be.
