My personal computer has came down with a virus/adware/i really don't know.
My question: Will a complete system overhaul delete it? Figure on deleting operating system and reinstalling it. Ain't got much on my computer that I really wish to keep, so loosing the data, saved stuff want hurt. My resume and other stuff such as informational emails I saved to a scandisk. Just figured i'd get ya'lls opinion.
Brother doesn't like the idea of me using his computer, and I really don't care to keep using his. Just curious, figured it would be cheaper than buying a new one exspecially for a system redo.

Re: Computer System?
I'm assuming you have a windows based system. format the c drive and that should do the trick. re-install everything and you should be good to go.

Re: Computer System?
When formatting and starting over, what's the best way to save your emails in both your inbox and outbox so that you can put them back when everything is reloaded?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Switch to LINUX!
Re: Computer System?
There is an option in exporting the messages. You will need to do a search on Google for it as I don't remember how it takes place. I have done it before on my mom's system, but it's been a few months ago.
Formatting will cure your problem though. I actually format my system maybe twice a year. You will notice the difference in computer speed after you format the drive.

Re: Computer System?
Make sure you format the drive and not just install it over the top of the current OS. We have too many folks doing that and bringing them in to us to fix them. Also something else to consider. Alot of the newer dell's hp's acer's and emachine's (within the last 5-6 yrs) have a recovery partition. Each brand has there own keystroke to get it to work. That is the easiest way to reload one if that is the case. If you dont have one format and reload then when you get everything like you want it load Acronis on there. It will allow you to create one yourself and next time you get a virus you just press the f11 key while booting up and recover your pc to when you ran the acronis recovery. This includes drivers and other software that you install like Office, games, etc. I have seen Acronis in stores like office depot but there are other ways of getting it too. It works really well. Just thought i would throw that at you.
