Trouble with 870 bead

Postby ScottS » Tue Oct 23, 2001 7:47 pm

Guys,

I am having trouble getting the bead on my son's 870 SuperMag unscrewed. I got the bead to turn but I am afraid the screw part is stuck. If the bead is turning and the screw portion isn't....I guess I scr#wed the pooch didn't I?

Any suggestions? Oh, I tried break free and AeroKroil on it and still no go. Is it gunsmith time??

Thanks for the encouraging reply!!

I bought a HiViz Comp Sight (I have one on my SX2 and love it) because it's so small and attaches with a screw where the bead goes. I just had the forcing cone polished in it so I'll run it back over there tomorrow at lunch.

Take care,

Scott

MSU,
The last hundred 870's I worked on had pressed beads. They are not screwed. If it is a silver bead, look close around the bottom of the bead where it goes into the rib. The rib should have a little ring aound the bead showing you where they stamped it into place. Now you can pull the bead out and tap it for another style but You don't unscrew it. Email me if you want more info. I can send a blow up for you.
