Crow you have a way with words.......Yellowstone is my choice. Never been there yet, but the wife and kids and I will be planning a trip within the next couple of years.

Thanks for the replies, I leaning towards Jacksonhole. I got a couple of free airline trips and want to go somewhere just to get away. I went to Jamica for the honeymoon, go to Orlando for the race every year and been to Mt. Rushmore once (but no futher in that country). I did like Custard State Park out in SD. Thanks for the replies.

Best nature-type trip I ever went on was to Ely, Minnesota. Two weeks of canoeing the Boundary Waters in Minnesota and Canada was incredible.

I did that trip with Scouts back when I was a freshman in high school and it was a great experiance. Caught lots of fish, too!

It looks like several have recommended Jackson Hole and Yellowstone. I'll 2nd or 3rd that. I worked out there one summer while in college. It is an awesome place. You can drive back and hit Mt. Rushmore...Colorado is also nice in the summertime; much more to do than just ski like wintertime..
Any of those ski towns in Colorado will be nice..

Disney Land

Had to say that just in case the wife is reading. You did say non-hunting, however fishing was not mentioned. I would head straight for Brazil to sepnd a week fishing for peacock bass. Man those are some awesome fish......... Yeah, I know that is not in the lower 48 but just couldn't resist.

GulfCoast - yep, that's the trip I was talking about. I also did it when I was in high school. It was the only time I have ever caught a wallye or northern pike.

I help out with a troop up here now and next July I am going to hopefully head out to Philmont with them. It will be hard to take two consecutive weeks off, but it should be a blast if I can do it.
