If you could pick a vacation!
If you could pick a vacation!
If you could pick a vacation (non hunting) in the US (48 connected states) where would you go and when, lets say in the next year. I have thought about Yellowstone, maybe Niagra Falls, or heading out to California to see the Redwoods and Sequoias. Give me some ideas, some of you folks that have done a little traveling may know a good trip for the wife and I. Big cities aren't a favorite of mine.

If you go in the summer the Rockies and Wyoming are hard to beat. Beatutiful in June/July. Good fresh air and tons of blooming flowers and trees. It's also neat to see the wildlife out there. If you have some extra cash I'd go to Vegas. I've never been there but I heard its plush. I'd like to check out all that show.

Well for me If it is non hunting then it is for fishing I can vouch for these places and the flyfishing there:
Florida-Captiva Island or somewhere down in that area-small cool places
The Keys - tarpon, bone, permit aplenty any time
Montana - Big Sky area Beuatiful country- leaves a taste in your mouth as to what the wild west may have been like plus killer brown trout fishing on the Madison,Gallatin, or Yellowstone (the gallatin river is where "A River Runs through" was filmed) ealry or late summer. You can go to yellowstone from here.
Jacksonhole Wyoming-(yellowstone area as well) beautiful mountain lakes with big brown trout in them.
Oregon-Rogue River big steelheads. Also can go on to California from here- The whole west coast is pretty cool,
If you love the saltwater as much as i do-i would go to the keys or florida. we made the drive all the way to key west this past summer. pretty cool stuff.
But if you want to go out west, I would have to go to Montana, and stay in Big Sky-you can go to yellowstone when you want.

Its a rat race down here, the only problem is that the rats are going to win!

Jackson Hole, Wyoming would be my suggestion. I would recommend going in June/July. There is really a lot to do there. Fly fishing, white water rafting, golf, beautiful mountains and mountain streams. Oh yeah, can't forget about all of the good food. The town is not very big, so don't worry about the big city thing. I have only been once, but I loved it. I can't wait to have the chance to get back there again. Good Luck on the planning.

peewee,
jackson hole wyoming is hard to beat. especially in the fall. we fly into denver, rent a van and drive up there. stay in some log cabins on the outskirts of town. horseback ride through the mountain trails around the grand tetons. and raft the snake river.
if you want a quick get-a-away, cancun. we do an all-inclusive hotel. charter out of memphis. i can be on the beach 2 hours from leaving the airport in memphis. and it is cheaper for a weekend down there, food included, than it is for airfare out west ! if you go down there other times than spring break, it is not wild and out of control. we take our kids, no problem.
if you want details, PM me....

Sometimes you just have to close your eyes, count to ten, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you wouldn't look good in prison stripes... and just smile at that dumbass and walk away.
Mound Bayou or Belzoni! Wingman will give you a guided tour of the Catfish Capital of the World (Belzoni)! I hear the wildlife in downtown Mound Bayou on Saturday night is pretty incredible!
Seriously, I would vote for anywhere in the northern Rockies. But, watch out, you can stub your toes bigtime because there is so much beauty to look at that it's hard to pay attention to where you are walking. If you want to stretch your vacation time and make it seem longer...take a drive through the great plains. I spent a month there one week!
